Abstract

The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for correlating and controlling the travel rate of a belt within a vulcanization tunnel in respect of a rubber cord extrusion rate. According to the invention, the method consists in detecting the position of a loop of a rubber cord in free fall during the transfer from an extruder to a vulcanization tunnel, the so obtained data being then processed by a program installed on a computer which controls the extrusion rate increase or decrease, depending on the vulcanization rate. The claimed apparatus for carrying out the method comprises two transducers, each of them having one of two light-emitting fibres (1.1 and 2.1) and one of two light-receiving fibres (1.2 and 2.2) from a light slit, which detect the position of a cord (4) when interposing it in front of a light slit.
