Abstract

The invention relates to a security element for a value document, such as a banknote, a passport, an identity card or similar, comprising a low-coercive magnetic region (24) for forming a magnetic code. According to the invention, said element also comprises a high-coercive magnetic region (22) that at least partially overlaps the low-coercive magnetic region (24) and magnetises the latter (24) when in the magnetised state.
