Abstract
Esta invencion se refiere a composiciones y metodos para modificar un gen funcional Homeobox relacionado con WUSCHEL (WUS) (WOX) en una planta de Rosaceae, opcionalmente, para modificar la arquitectura de las espinas y/o espinillas, para reducir el numero y/o tamano de las espinas y espinillas, o para eliminar las espinas y/o espinillas. La invencion ademas se refiere a plantas de Rosaceae que tienen espinas y/o espinillas con una arquitectura modificada, un reducido numero y/o tamano de espinas y/o espinillas, o ausencia de espinas y/o espinillas, producidas usando los metodos y las composiciones de la invencion. La invencion adicionalmente se refiere a metodos de identificacion y/o reproduccion de plantas que tienen espinas y/o espinillas con una arquitectura modificada, un reducido numero y/o tamano de espinas y/o espinillas, o ausencia de espinas y/o espinillas.
