Abstract

Se divulga un sistema de separacion para separar particulas seleccionadas desde una mezcla de particulas en un fluido. El sistema incluye un recipiente de flotacion por espuma 10 en el que, en uso, la mezcla de particulas y fluido es sometida a un flujo ascendente de un gas introducido para formar una capa de espuma 13 que se eleva por encima de una interface 14 formada entre la capa de espuma 13 y la mezcla de particulas y fluido 12, de modo que una cantidad de las particulas seleccionadas es transportada fuera del recipiente 10 por la capa de espuma 13 para convertirse en un primer producto del sistema. El recipiente 10 tambien tiene una primera salida 29 dispuesta, en uso, para recibir un flujo de parte de la mezcla de particulas y fluido desde el recipiente 10, estando una entrada a la primera salida 29 situada en una region proxima a la interface 14, pero por debajo de ella. El recipiente tambien tiene una segunda salida 20 dispuesta, en uso, para recibir un flujo de parte de la mezcla de particulas y fluido desde una region del recipiente 10 que esta situada por debajo de la primera salida 29. En uso, la primera salida 29 recibe una cantidad de las particulas seleccionadas que no fueron transportadas fuera del recipiente por la capa de espuma 13, y la segunda salida 20 recibe una cantidad de las particulas seleccionadas en un primer subproducto del sistema. El primer subproducto comprende un porcentaje relativamente mayor de solidos en comparacion con el flujo de particulas y fluido en la primera salida 29. El flujo de la mezcla de particulas y fluido desde el recipiente 10 pasa a traves de la primera salida 29 a un dispositivo de clasificacion 31, 76 que separa el flujo en dos o mas fracciones en funcion de su tamano o densidad o una combinacion de ambos.
