IN THE PROCESS, THE NATURAL GAS FLOW TO BE LIQUEFIED INCLUDES THE STEPS: A) TREATING SAID NATURAL GAS FLOW IN A COOLING STEP OR MORE; B) EXPAND, AT AN INTERMEDIATE PRESSURE, THE FLOW OF COOLED NATURAL GAS; C) DIRECTING THE FLOW OF COOLED AND EXPANDED NATURAL GAS TO A DISTILLATION COLUMN, WHERE SAID FLOW IS SEPARATED INTO A VOLATILE RESIDUAL GAS FRACTION CONTAINING A MAIN PORTION OF SAID METHANE AND LIGHTER COMPONENTS WITH A RELATIVE VOLATILE FRACTION. A MAJOR PORTION OF SAID HIGHER HYDROCARBON COMPONENTS; D) COOL UNDER PRESSURE THE FRACTION OF RESIDUAL GAS TO CONDENSATE AT LEAST A PORTION OF IT; E) DIVIDE AT LEAST IN TWO PORTIONS TO FORM IN THIS WAY THE CONDENSED FLOW AND A LIQUID FLOW; AND F) DIRECT SAID LIQUID FLOW TO THE DISTILLATION COLUMN AS UPPER FEED FOR THE SAME
