SALT IS SELECTED FROM THE GROUP THAT CONSISTS OF METABORATE, PENTABORATE, TETRABORATE AND ORTHOBORATE; AND THE ADDITIVE IS [NH4] 2B4O7. AN EFFECTIVE AMOUNT OF THE ADDITIVE IS USED TO IMPROVE THE FUEL CAPACITY IN A COMBUSTION SYSTEM HAVING A COMBUSTION ZONE. HYDROCARBONS ARE LIQUID OR SOLID; AND THE COMBUSTION AREA IS THE INSIDE OF AN ENGINE THAT RUNS ON GASOLINE OR DIESEL FUEL. BORON IS PRESENT IN FUEL IN AN AMOUNT OF BETWEEN 5 AND 10 ppm BY WEIGHT. THE PROCESS FOR PREPARING THE ADDITIVE INCLUDES: a) ADDING THE SALT TO A FLUID TO AT LEAST PARTIALLY DISPERSE THE SALT IN THE FLUID, OBTAINING A STEM DISPERSION CONTAINING BORON; b) MIXING THE STEM DISPERSION WITH THE CARRIER FLUID, SO THAT THE DISPERSION IS DISPERSED IN THE FLUID; AND, c) REMOVE AN IMPORTANT PORTION OF THE FLUID FROM THE MIXTURE OF THE STEM SOLUTION, TO PREPARE THE ADDITIVE
