EN DONDE DICHO PROCESO COMPRENDE LA REDUCCION DE UNA FUENTE DE AZUFRE EN MEDIO LIQUIDO EN UN BIORREACTOR, UTILIZANDO BACTERIAS COMO CATALIZADOR Y GAS HIDROGENO, MONOXIDO DE CARBONO O COMPUESTOS ORGANICOS COMO UN DONADOR DE ELECTRONES. EL PROCESO SE CARACTERIZA POR UTILIZAR AZUFRE EN SU CONDICION ELEMENTAL COMO LA FUENTE DE AZUFRE Y SEPARAR EL SULFURO DE HIDROGENO DEL MEDIO LIQUIDO PARA PRODUCIR UN GAS QUE CONTENGA POR LO MENOS 1% POR VOLUMEN DE SULFURO DE HIDROGENO. EL SULFURO DE HIDROGENO SE SEPARA DEL BIORREACTOR A UNA VELOCIDAD TAL QUE EL pH EN EL BIORREACTOR SE MANTIENE ENTRE 5 Y 9; Y EL DIOXIDO DE CARBONO SE SEPARA DEL MEDIO LIQUIDO MEDIANTE LA ADICION DE UN GAS INERTE Y LUEGO SE SEPARA DEL SULFURO DE HIDROGENO. ADEMAS DICHO GAS SULFUROSO SE PONE LUEGO EN CONTACTO CON UNA CORRIENTE QUE CONTIENE METALES PESADOS, Y LOS METALES SE PRECIPITAN COMO SULFUROS METALICOS LOS CUALES SON TRATADOS PARA PRODUCIR METALES Y AZUFRE EN SU CONDICION ELEMENTAL, Y ESTE ULTIMO SE RECICLA HASTA EL PASO DE REDUCCION EN EL BIORREACTOR
