Abstract
Device comprises an assembly of optical sensors (9) distributed vertically along a support within the interior of a fuel tank (2). Each sensor comprises a luminous light source and a receiver. The light beam is transmitted if a sensor is in a gas environment but not if submerged. The sensors are linked to a power supply, a signal processor and a display gauge (20).
