The present invention relates to a portable machine for cutting building material and, more particularly, covering material, such as tiles ... etc ...

5 Various machines are known for cutting up materials and which can be used for tilers, masons, etc. However, all of these machines are bulky and difficult to transport. Indeed, they generally include a table which supports a movable trolley on which the material to be cut is placed, a bracket supporting an arm on which is mounted an electric motor whose shaft receives a cutting disc and a pump which sucks in 0 a tank of cooling water and which discharges it onto the disc, said disc being partially protected by a casing.

One of the aims of the present invention is to provide a simpler machine, therefore much lighter and which can easily be transported to construction sites.

The machine object of the present invention is of the type comprising a frame supporting a motor on the shaft of which * 20 is wedged a cutting disc with a protective casing and is characterized in that the frame consists of a hollow housing closed by a removable cover and provided with a grip handle, said housing internally comprising a partition dividing it into two compartments, the first containing the motor while the second houses the disc, the shaft passing through the partition by a bearing, the cover being pierced with at least one opening through which the disc projects, and constituting a guide table for the material to be cut, the protective casing being formed by a cap intended to use the projecting part of the disc to the surface of the cover and carried by an articulated arm on the housing. Thanks to this arrangement, an extremely simple and very practical machine is produced, the second compartment being able to receive water to cool the disc. Thus, we remove a certain number of elements which are compulsory on conventional machines.

In order to recover part of the water entrained by the rotation of the disc, the part of the cover situated above the second compartment is inclined and provided with slots.

Thus, the water flows over the inclined part and falls back | in the second compartment thanks to said slots.

! According to another characteristic, the housing comprises a guide shelf which extends in a plane forming an angle of 45 ° relative to the plane of the disc.

Thus, various materials can be cut at 45 ° angles.

To facilitate transport, the guide shelf is removable.

According to a constructive characteristic, the shelf of; guide includes a plate receiving two wing screws intended to be screwed into tapped holes in the housing and supporting a frame on which said shelf is movable provided with an edge and locking means.

In order to prevent the disk during its rotation from causing too much water, the second compartment is provided with a deflector partially masking the disk and arranged in a manner i; that any point of it located below a horizontal plane! passing through the axis approaches said deflector.

The machine shown in the figures comprises a hollow housing l, one of the side walls of which is provided with a grip handle 2.

The shaft 17 of the electric motor 8 passes through the partition 7 and receives a cutting disc 18 which extends in the compartment 6. The cutting disc rotates in the direction of the arrow "f, f and a deflector is provided 19 which partly masks the disc 18, so that the water entrained by said disc is not projected against the underside of the cover 3

The cover 3 has an upper face 21 which constitutes a table for guiding the material to be cut, the disc 18 projecting through a slot 22 of said cover.

The cutting disc 18 is protected by a casing 23 which is carried by an arm 21 "mounted to tilt on an axis 25 of the side wall 15 of the housing. On the table 22 are fixed two projections 26 in which slide the two branches 2 '·' 50 of a U-shaped bar 12, the free ends of which support a guide member 29 consisting of a plate whose upper edge is provided with a tab 3û. The projections 26 are each pierced with a tapped hole extending perpendicular to the rods 27 and into which are screwed wing screws 28 35 for blocking said rods.
