Description

N-테트라티오디모르폴린의 제조방법
본 발명은 N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 제조하는 신규한 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명은 값비싸며 부식성있는 화학약품을 사용하지 않고 우수한 보존기간을 갖는 안정한 결정성 생성물을 생성시키는 효율적인 N-테트라티오디모르폴린 제법을 제공한다.
N-테트라티오디모르폴린은 황 공여체 및 경화 촉진제로서 고무 공업에서 유용하다. N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 제조하는 이전의 방법에서는 모르폴린디설파이드의 용액에 황을 가한다. 이 제법에서의 문제점은 모르폴린디설파이드의 제법이 원가가 높고 귀찮은 공정을 거친다는 점이다. 모르폴린디설파이드는 모르폴린및 일염화황을 유기용매 중에서 알카리의 존재하에 반응시켜 제조한다 [참조 : M.C.Throdahl 및 M.W.Harman,Ind.Eng.Chem.,43,421(1951)].
N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 제조하는 또하나의 선행기술 방법은 할로폴리설파이드 및 모르폴린을 사용한다. 이 방법에서는 큰 유독성 및 부식성의 할로폴리설파이드, 예를들면 클로로디설파이드 및 디클로로폴리설파이드를 사용한다.
미합중국 특허 제2,911,405호에는 4,4-디티오모르폴린내에 황을 주입시켜 N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 제조하는 방법이 기술되어 있으며, 케미칼 애브스트랙트(ChemicaI Abstracts)40,732-9에는 모르폴린 및 황을 산화납의 존재하에서 반응시키는 방법이 기술되어 있다. 선행기술의 어느 것에도 철염 또는 철 착화합물의 존재하에서 모르폴린/황 혼합물을 산화시켜 N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 제조하는 방법은 기술되어 있지 않다.
고무화학 공업에서는 값비싸거나 위험한 출발물질을 사용할 필요없이 N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 효율적 및 경제적으로 제조하는 새로운 방법이 필요하다.
황에 대한 모르폴린의 물비가 1 : 1 내지 5 : 1인 모르폴린과 황의 혼합물을 철염 또는 철 착화합물의 존재하에 초대기압 및 0 내지 80℃의 온도에서 공기 또는 산소와 접촉시킴으로써 N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 제조하는 방법이 발견되었다.
또한, 모르폴린-황 혼합물을 염화 제2철의 존재하에서 공기 또는 산소에 의해 산화시킴을 특징으로하여, N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 제조하는 방법이 발견되었다.
또한, (a) 모르폴린과 황을 황에 대한 모르폴린의 몰비 1 : 1 내지 5 : 1로 혼합시키고 : (b) 이 혼합물을 철염 또는 철 착화합물의 존재하에 상승된 압력 및 20 내지 60℃의 온도에서 공기 또는 산소와 접촉시키고 ; (c) N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 분리시킴을 특징으로하여N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 제조하는 방법이 발견되었다.
본 발명의 방법을 통해 모르폴린을 공기 또는 산소의 존재하에서 황과 반응시켜 N-테트라티오디모르폴린이 수득된다. 부산물, 모르폴리늄티오설페이트도 또한 생성된다. 모르폴리늄티오설페이트는 철염 또는 철 착화합물을 가하지 않고 산화반응을 수행하는 경우 주 생성물이다[참조 : E.M.Peters 및 W.T.Smith.Jr.,Proc.Iowa Acad Sci 57,211(1950)].
본 발명의 이점은 산화제로서 공기 또는 산소를 사용함으로써 값비싸거나, 부식성이 있거나 유독한 화학물질을 사용하지 않을 수 있다는 점이다. 본 발명의 방법을 통해 N-테트라티오디모르폴린은 반응한 모르폴린을 기준으로 90% 선택성으로 수득할 수 있다.
본 발명의 출발물질인 모르폴린은 실험식 C4H9NO를 갖는다. 다른 공급원으로부터 얻은 모르폴린은 여러농도의 철 오염물질을 함유할 수 있음이 측정되었다. 본 발명의 방법에 사용되는 황은 미세한 분말 형태의 통상적인 사방정황이다. 황은 보통 S8사방정 형태로 존재하며, 본 명세서에서 사용된 용어 "황의 물수"는 실질적으로 황의 그램 원자수를 의미한다. 황에 대한 모르폴린의 몰비는 1.0 : 1.0 내지 5.0 : 1.0의 범위일수 있으며, 더욱 바람직하게는 1.0 : 1.0 내지 1.5 : 1.0의 범위이다.
본 발명에서 유용한 철염 및 착화합물의 대표적인 것으로는 염화 제2철, 염화제1철, 제2철 아세테이트,제1철 아세테이트, 암모늄황산 제1철, 브롬화 제2철, 브롬화 제1철, 탄산 제1철, 페로시아나이드, 페리시아나이드, 불화 제2철, 불화 제1 철, 수산화 제2 철, 산화 제1철 제2철 수화물, 수산화 제1철, 요오드화 제1철, 질산 제2철, 질산 제1철, 제2철 옥살레이트, 제1철 옥살레이트, 산화 제2철, 산화 제1철, 황산 제2철, 황산 제1철, 황화 제2철, 황화 제1철, EDTA철 착화합물 및 화학자에게 명백한 기타 물질이 있다. 모르폴린 1kg당 철의 양은 0.1 내지 30mg의 범위일 수 있다. 바람직한 범위는 5 내지 20mg 이다.
모르폴린과 황의 혼합물을 20 내지 60℃에서 대기압 또는 10기압과 같은 초대기압에서 산소 또는 공기와 접촉시킨다. 초대기압에서 공기 또는 산소가 농후한 공기를 사용할 수 있음을 알아야 한다. 통상적인 스테인레스 교반 반응기를 사용할 수 있으며 반응은 황이 소멸하면 종결된다.
반응 후, 슬러리를 15℃로 냉각시키고 결정성 테트라티오디모르폴린으로 씨딩(seeding)시킨다. 따라서,이 단계에서는 보조제로서 메틸알코올을 가할 수 있다. 결정화 기간 후, 혼합물을 염 및 착색체를 용해시키는 묽은 가성 용액으로 처리하여 거의 백색의 결정 생성물이 잔류한다. 이 생성물은 HPLC에 의해 약 분해하면 약 95%의 테트라티오디모르폴린으로 수득된다. 여액 유출물 중에 존재하는 나머지 모르폴린은 분별증류시켜 회수할 수 있다.
다음 실시예들은 본 발명의 신규성 및 유용성을 추가로 설명하기 위한 것이며 이로써 제한하려는 것이 아니다.
[실시예 1]
고속 교반기, 기체유입단위, 온도계 및 수조가 장치되어 있는 500ml 들이 3구 플라스크에 염화 제 2철로서 1mg의 철을 함유하는 87g의 모르폴린을 충전시킨다. 생성 혼합물을 신속히 교반시키고 플라스크에 산소를 도입시킨다. 수조를 사용하여 반응 혼합물을 40℃에서 유지시킨다. 1시간 후 대부분의 황이 반응하며, 혼합물은 반투명한 밝은 오렌지 색이 된다. 혼합물을 75ml의 메탄올로 회석시키고 15℃로 냉각시킨 다음, 30분에 걸쳐 결정화되게 한다. 결정화된 혼합물을 150ml의 0.7몰 수산화나트륨 용액으로 희석하고 여과시켜 생성물을 회수한다. 생성물을 물로 추가 세척하고 건조시키면 60.6g의 무게가 된다. 이 생성물은 50℃에서 뛰어난 보존기간을 갖는다. 모르폴린에 대한 반응의 선택성은 90%이다.
[실시예 2]
모르폴린을 1.1mg의 염화 제1철 또는 0.5mg의 철과 함께 충전시키는 것을 제외하고는 실시예 1의 방법을 사용한다. 40℃에서 1.5시간의 반응시간이 필요하며 60.3g의 테트라티오디모르폴린이 수득된다.
[실시예 3]
철염의 EDTA(에틸렌디아민테트라아세트산)착화합물 동량을 사용하는 것 외에는 실시예 2의 방법을 사용한다. 결과는 실시예 2와 같다.
[조제연구]
본 발명의 생성물을 공지된 황 공여 촉진제에 비교하기 위하여 조제연구를 수행한다. 여러가지의 고무원료에서 통상적인 황 공여 촉진제를 우수하게 대체할 수 있음을 발견하였다. 대부분의 경우 폴리적 성질 및 경화의 상태는 통상적으로 이용가능한 대조군의 것과 거의 동일하다. 전반적으로, 본 발명에 따라 제조된 테트라티오디모르폴린은 산업적으로 현재 사용되는 물질에 필적한다고 생각할 수 있다.
산업적 적용 가능성
본 발명의 방법은 고무화학 산업에 있어서 장기간의 욕구를 만족시킨다. 경화 촉진제로서 아민설파이드의 중요성은 잘 알려져 있다 [참조예 : Throdahl 및 M.W.Harman, Ind.Eng.Chem.43, 431(1951)]. 본 발명의 방법을 통해 N-테트라티오디모르폴린은 부식성 또는 유독성 화학물질을 사용하지 않고도 효율적 및 경제적으로 제조될 수 있다.
특정의 대표적인 양태 및 상세한 설명이 본 발명을 설명하기 위하여 제시되었지만, 본 발명내에서 여러가지 변화 및 수정을 행할 수 있음은 본 분야의 전문가에게 명백할 것이다.

Claims (10)

  1. 모르폴린과 황의 혼합물을 철염 또는 철 착화합물의 존재하에서 산소 또는 공기에 의해 산화시킴을 특징으로하여, N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 제조하는 방법.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서, 철염이 염화 제2철인 방법.
  3. 제 1 항에 있어서, 철염이 염화 제1철인 방법.
  4. 제 1 항에 있어서, 모르폴린 1kg당 0.1 내지 30mg의 철이 사용되는 방법.
  5. 제 1 항에 있어서, 철의 양이 모르폴린 1kg당 5 내지 20mg인 방법.
  6. 황에 대한 모르폴린의 몰비가 1 : 1 내지 5 : 1인 모르폴린과 황의 혼합물을 철염 또는 철 착화합물의 존재하에 초대기압하 및 0 내지 80℃의 온도에서 공기 또는 산소와 접촉시킴을 특징으로하여, N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 제조하는 방법.
  7. 제 6 항에 있어서, 산소가 대기압 또는 초대기압하에서 사용되는 방법.
  8. 제 6 항에 있어서, 공기가 초대기압하에서 사용되는 방법.
  9. 모르폴린-황 혼합물을 염화 제1철 또는 염화 제2철의 존재하에 공기 또는 산소에 의해 산화시킴을 특징으로하여, N-테트라티오디모르폴린을 제조하는 방법.
  10. 제 1 항에 있어서, 철 착화합물이 철염의 EDTA 착화합물인 방법.
