Claims (25)
- 보강 간섭 또는 상쇄 간섭에 의해 광을 선택적으로 반사하도록 구성되며, 다층 광학 필름의 제1 구역에서 제2 구역으로 연장하는 복수의 내부층을 포함하되,
제1 구역에서 복수의 내부층이 제1 반사 편광기를 제공하고, 제2 구역에서 복수의 내부층이 실질적으로 다른 제2 반사 편광기를 제공하고,
복수의 내부층 중 적어도 일부는 제1 구역의 복굴절성에 비해 감소된 제2 구역의 복굴절성을 갖는 다층 광학 필름. - 제1항에 있어서, 복수의 내부층은 제1 재료로 구성된 제1 층 세트와 다른 제2 재료로 구성된 제2 층 세트를 포함하고, 제1 층 세트와 제2 층 세트는 모두 제1 구역에서 복굴절성을 갖는 다층 광학 필름.
- 제2항에 있어서, 제1 층 세트와 제2 층 세트 중 하나는 제2 구역에서 실질적으로 등방성인 다층 광학 필름.
- 제1항에 있어서, 제1 및 제2 반사 편광기는 각자의 제1 및 제2 통과축과 제1 및 제2 차단축을 갖고, 제1 통과축은 제2 통과축에 실질적으로 직교하는 다층 광학 필름.
- 제1항에 있어서, 제1 및 제2 반사 편광기는 각자의 제1 및 제2 통과축과 제1 및 제2 차단축을 갖고, 제1 반사 편광기는 수직 입사에서 제1 통과축 반사율을 갖고, 제2 반사 편광기는 수직 입사에서 제2 통과축 반사율을 갖고, 제1 및 제2 통과축 반사율은 적어도 5%만큼 서로 차이가 있는 다층 광학 필름.
- 제1항에 있어서, 제1 구역에서는 제1 두께를, 제2 구역에서는 제2 두께를 갖고, 제1 반사 편광기와 제2 반사 편광기 간의 반사 특성의 차이는 제1 두께와 제2 두께 간의 임의의 차이에 실질적으로 기인하지 않는 다층 광학 필름.
- 제1항에 있어서, 제1 및 제2 구역에서 실질적으로 동일한 필름 두께를 갖는 다층 광학 필름.
- 제1항에 있어서, 제1 및 제2 구역에서 실질적으로 서로 다른 필름 두께를 갖는 다층 광학 필름.
- 제1항에 있어서, 제1 반사 편광기는 수직 입사에서 제1 반사 대역을 갖고, 제2 반사 편광기는 수직 입사에서 제2 반사 대역을 갖고, 다층 광학 필름은 제1 및 제2 반사 대역 밖에 있는 파장에서 광을 선택적으로 흡수하는 흡수제를 포함하는 다층 광학 필름.
- 모두 동일한 복수의 층으로 구성된 실질적으로 직교 배향된 반사 편광기들의 조합을 포함하는 광학 필름.
- 제10항에 있어서, 반사 편광기들의 조합은 광학 필름의 하나 이상의 제1 구역에 형성된 제1 반사 편광기, 및 광학 필름의 하나 이상의 제2 구역에 형성된 제2 반사 편광기를 포함하고, 복수의 층은 하나 이상의 제1 구역으로부터 하나 이상의 제2 구역으로 연장하는 광학 필름.
- 제11항에 있어서, 복수의 층은 하나 이상의 제1 구역에서는 복굴절성을 갖고 하나 이상의 제2 구역에서는 보다 작은 복굴절성 또는 등방성을 갖는 제1 층 세트를 포함하는 광학 필름.
- 제10항에 있어서, 직교 배향된 반사 편광기는 수직 입사에서 각자의 제1 및 제2 반사 대역을 갖고, 광학 필름은 제1 및 제2 반사 대역 밖에 있는 파장에서 광을 선택적으로 흡수하는 흡수제를 포함하는 광학 필름.
- 제1 반사 편광기 필름의 제1 및 제2 구역에 제1 반사 특성을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 제1 반사 편광기 필름을 제공하는 단계; 및
제1 반사 편광기 필름의 일부를 제1 반사 특성과 실질적으로 다른 제2 반사 특성을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 제2 반사 편광기로 변환하기 위하여 제2 구역의 제1 반사 편광기 필름을 선택적으로 가열하는 단계를 포함하는 방법. - 제14항에 있어서, 선택적 가열은 제1 반사 편광기와 연관된 제1 통과축 반사율이 제2 반사 편광기와 연관된 제2 통과축 반사율과 실질적으로 다르게 되도록 실시되고, 제1 통과축 반사율과 제2 통과축 반사율은 적어도 5%만큼 서로 차이가 있는 방법.
- 제14항에 있어서, 선택적 가열은 제1 반사 편광기의 통과축이 제2 반사 편광기의 통과축에 실질적으로 직교하도록 실시되는 방법.
- 제14항에 있어서, 제2 구역은 복수의 제2 구역 중 하나이고, 선택적 가열은 복수의 제2 구역에서는 실시되나 제1 구역에서는 실시되지 않는 방법.
- 제14항에 있어서, 선택적 가열은 제1 반사 편광기 필름의 제2 구역에 복사 에너지를 유도하는 것을 포함하는 방법.
- 제18항에 있어서, 복사 에너지는 레이저로부터의 자외선광, 가시광선, 또는 적외선광을 포함하는 방법
- 제1 반사 편광기 필름의 제1 및 제2 구역에 제1 통과축을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 제1 반사 편광기 필름을 제공하는 단계; 및
제1 반사 편광기 필름의 일부를 제1 통과축에 실질적으로 직교하는 제2 통과축을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 제2 반사 편광기로 변환하기 위하여 제2 구역의 제1 반사 편광기 필름을 선택적으로 가열하는 단계를 포함하는 방법. - 제1 반사 특성을 제공하기 위하여 보강 간섭 또는 상쇄 간섭에 의해 광을 선택적으로 반사하도록 구성된 복수의 내부층을 포함하되,
복수의 내부층은 제1 재료로 구성된 제1 층 세트와 제1 재료와 다른 제2 재료로 구성된 제2 층 세트를 포함하고, 제1 층 세트와 제2 층 세트는 모두 복굴절성을 갖고,
다층 광학 필름은 복수의 내부층의 구조적 무결성을 유지하면서 내부층들 중 적어도 일부의 복굴절성을 변화시키기 위해서, 다층 광학 필름에 적당한 광빔이 조사될 때에 내부층들을 충분히 가열하도록 조정된 흡수 특성을 갖고, 이 복굴절성 변화는 제1 반사 특성을 다른 제2 반사 특성으로 변화시키기에 충분하고,
제1 반사 특성은 실질적으로 제1 편광기 특성이고, 제2 반사 특성은 제1 편광기 특성과 실질적으로 다른 제2 편광기 특성인 다층 광학 필름. - 제21항에 있어서, 제2 편광기 특성은 제1 편광기 특성의 통과축에 대해 실질적으로 직교 배향된 통과축을 갖는 다층 광학 필름.
- 제21항에 있어서, 제1 재료는 제1 중합체와 흡수제를 포함하는 다층 광학 필름.
- 제23항에 있어서, 흡수제는 700 nm보다 큰 파장에서 광을 우선적으로 흡수하는 다층 광학 필름.
- 제21항에 있어서, 제1 및 제2 편광기 특성은 수직 입사광에 대해서 이와 연관된 각자의 제1 및 제2 반사 대역을 갖고, 흡수 특성은 흡수제와 연관되고, 흡수제는 제1 및 제2 반사 대역 이외의 파장에서 광을 우선적으로 흡수하는 다층 광학 필름.
