DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [Field of Industrial Application] The present invention relates to a catheter particularly suitable for removing thrombus formed within a blood vessel.

For example, several methods are known for removing blood clots that form within blood vessels. One of them is a treatment method using a catheter with a balloon. In other words, this treatment involves advancing the tip of the catheter ahead of the thrombus, then inflating a balloon to move the thrombus outside the body and removing it, or inflating a balloon at the thrombus and pushing the thrombus. This is done by crushing it to ensure blood flow.

しかしながら、このような手段によると、血栓が石灰化

However, this method has the drawback that if the thrombus has become calcified and hardened, it is impossible to remove the thrombus and ensure blood flow.

In addition, as another means, as shown in U.S. Pat.
Since the wire acts as a cutting blade, it is possible to remove some of the hardened thrombus. However, as described above, simply providing the wire and the balloon sequentially along the axial direction at the tip of the catheter does not allow the wire to be strongly pressed against the hardened thrombus, so the thrombus can be removed reliably and efficiently. The disadvantage is that it cannot be done.

In this invention, a balloon that can be expanded and deflated is provided at the distal end, and a cutting blade is provided on the outside of the balloon. The balloon allows the cutting blade to be strongly pressed against the thrombus or the like.

This will be explained with reference to the figures. 1 in FIG. 1 is a catheter. A balloon 2 that can be inflated and deflated is formed at the distal end of the catheter 1. The catheter 1 also includes a liquid feeding path 3 and four insertion paths 4 (
(only two are shown) are formed over almost the entire length in the axial direction. The distal end of the liquid feeding path 3 opens at a position communicating with the inside of the balloon 2, and the proximal end is connected to a liquid feeding pump and a suction pump (not shown) so that they can selectively communicate with each other. Therefore, by operating the liquid pump to send liquid to the balloon 2, it can be expanded, and by operating the suction pump to suck the liquid in the balloon 2, it can be deflated. It has become.

Further, a wire 5 is slidably inserted through each of the insertion passages 4. One end of a cutting blade 6 is connected to the tip of each of these wires 5. Each incision blade 6 is led out from the tip of each insertion passage 4 that opens on the outer peripheral surface of the tip of the catheter 1, and is placed along the outer surface of the balloon 2, with the other end positioned at the tip of the balloon 2 of the catheter 1. It is fixed to the mounting portion 1a. The cutting blade 6 is made of a wire-like material and has a cross-sectional shape having an edge 7 as shown in FIG. Further, the base end portion of the wire 50 is led out from the insertion passage 4 and connected to an operating member (not shown), so that it can be pushed or pulled by this operating member.

Next, a case where a thrombus is excised using the catheter 1 will be described. First, as shown in FIG. 1, the catheter 1 is percutaneously inserted into the blood vessel 11 with the balloon 2 deflated.

Once the distal end of the catheter 1 is located at the location of the thrombus 12, the wire 5 is advanced by operating an operating member (not shown) to loosen the incision blade 6, and the balloon/2
The liquid is sent to the tube and expanded as shown in FIG. Then, the edge 2 of the cutting blade 6 is strongly pressed against the thrombus 12 by the inflated balloon 2, so if the catheter 1 is moved back and forth or rotated in this state, the thrombus 12 will be removed.

Before inflating the balloon 2, the wire 5 is fed in to bend the incision blade 6 outward, and in this state, the catheter 1 is moved back and forth or rotated to incise the thrombus 12. , the blood vessel 11 may be expanded by inflating the balloon 2. Alternatively, the proximal end of the wire 50 may be left in a slidable state, and the cutting blade 6 may be expanded by the expansion force of the balloon 2.

The catheter of this invention can only be used to remove thrombus.
It can also be effectively used for dilation of valve stenosis caused by heart valve diseases such as aortic valve disease, aortic valve stenosis, mitral valve disease, and mitral valve stenosis.

As described above, in the present invention, a balloon is provided at the distal end of the catheter, and an incision blade is provided on the outside of the balloon. Therefore, since the incision blade can be strongly pressed against the affected area by the inflating balloon, there is an advantage that, for example, a calcified and hardened thrombus can be resected well and reliably.
