Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain simultaneous accessing from plural terminals by adding a memory of large capacity that can file plural pages as a page memory. CONSTITUTION:An optical disk medium requested by a terminal 12 is set to a gathering optical disk drive 1. When a copy instruction is delivered for plural pages, the requested command is sent to a disk device 10 via a terminal controller 11. The disk 10 decodes the command via a control part 5 and the image data on plural pages are stored temporarily in a page memory 4 via a buffer memory 3. Then these data are read out of the memory 4 as soon as a printer of a retrieving terminal 12 is ready and sent to the terminal 12 via the buffer memory 3 and a reading part 2. At the same time, an optical disk medium requested by a retrieving terminal 13 that received the next access is set to the drive 1. Then the requested image data is read out of the drive 1 and sent to the terminal 13 via the part 2.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION A conventional collective optical disk device of this type has a configuration as shown in FIG. In the figure, 1 is a disk drive, 2 is a reading section, 3 is a buffer memory, 5 is a control section, and 6 and 7 are input/output ends of the device, respectively. Third

In the system configuration shown in FIG. 2.3, when multiple search terminals access different optical disk media at the same time, one search is performed because multiple pages of image data cannot be stored in the buffer memory 3 of the disk device 10. While serving a terminal, it was not possible to serve other search terminals.

In other words, when one terminal makes a copy request for multiple pages of image data, the copying speed is generally slower than the reading speed of an optical disc, so unless access is allowed from other terminals, the other terminal will wait until the copy is completed. The disadvantage is that it requires too much time. On the other hand, if access from other terminals is allowed, the optical disc medium must be changed frequently, and this process takes too much time.

FIG. 3 is an example of a system having a cluster configuration using the collective optical disk device shown in FIG. In Figure 3,
Assume that a plurality of search terminals 12 and 13 access the collective optical disk device 10 via the terminal controller 11 at the same time. At this time, if the configuration shown in FIG. 1 is adopted, the optical disk medium requested by the first search terminal 12 is the first
It is set in the collective optical disk drive 1 shown in the figure. next,
When a command is issued to copy multiple pages, the requested command is sent to the collective optical disk device 10 via the terminal controller 11. As shown in FIG. 1, in the collective optical disk device 10, the command is input to the control section 5 and decoded, and the image data of a plurality of pages are temporarily stored in the page memory 4 via the buffer memory 3. The stored plurality of image data are sequentially read out from the page memory 4 as soon as the printer of the search terminal 12 is ready, and sent to the search terminal 12 through the buffer memory 3 and the reading section 2. At the same time, the optical disk medium requested by the next accessed search terminal 13 is loaded onto the collective optical disk drive 1, and the requested image data is read out from the collective optical disk drive 1. It is sent to the search terminal 13 via section 2.
