Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain decoration having good outward appearance, by applying a primer to the surface of a base material having impressions to flatten recessed parts forming grain and subsequently forming a decorative layer having a color different from that of the surface of the base material to the flattened parts. CONSTITUTION:For example, a base material is the side mole of a car or other mole and a primer film 2 is formed to at least a part of the surface of the base material having impressions at intervals of about 10-100mum to flatten the recessed parts of the impressions. Next, printing or painting having a color different from that of the surface of the base material is applied to a part of the surface 21 of said film 2 to form a decorative layer 3. This decorative layer is an arbitrary pattern such as a character or figure but, by flattening the surface of the base material by the primer film 2, exudation is inconspicuous and outward appearance is enhanced.

"Flattening the recesses" refers to filling the recesses forming the grain with the paint used for primer coating to make the surface of the base material having the grains almost flat. Regarding the method of filling the recesses, for example, as shown in Fig. 1, the recesses can be filled in just the right amount, or as shown in Fig. 3, almost all of the recesses can be filled, or even Paint can also be placed on its top surface as shown in the figure.

The portion to be coated with a primer may be at least a part of the surface of the art material having grains. Therefore, it may be the entire surface of the painting material or a portion thereof, and various selections can be made depending on the purpose. Furthermore, the location where the primer coating is applied is not limited.

The interval between the repeated grains of the base material used is not particularly limited, but is preferably about 10 to 100 microns. 1
When the grain size is less than 0μ, the surface of the base material having the grain is almost flat, and when it is more than 100μ, it becomes leather-like, and even if this decorative layer forming method is used, the effect is small.

After the second step, a step of applying clear coating to the surface side of the decorative layer formed in the second step can be provided. The clear coating can be applied only to the upper part of the decorative layer, or can be applied to the entire surface including it. In this case, since the decorative body is covered with a transparent protective film, there is little risk that the decorative body will be mechanically scratched or deteriorated by light, etc., resulting in high stability.
