Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the deterioration of a recorded image due to the bleeding, runs, etc. of a recording ink, by a method wherein a thermally fixing means sealing the surface of a recording medium applied with the recording ink is provided on a part of a carry path to fix the surface of the recorded medium. CONSTITUTION:In recording, a carriage 1 is driven to run from a recording start position, nozzles 10 of a recording head 2 are selectively driven to discharge ink drips, and a recording of dot-matrix pattern is applied on a recording-width part P of a sheet 6B opposed to the respective nozzles in a main-scanning direction. After the completion of the recording for one line, the carriage 1 is returned, the sheet 6B is carried by the amount of the recording width P, and this action is again repeated. The recorded part is carried to a thermal fixing device 32 disposed on the way of a paper discharge path. After being subjected to a water-resisting treatment, the surface is fused by the thermal fixing device 32 to eliminate the gaps existing on the surface of a porous layer to enhance a water resistance.
