Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent restriking of GTOs by providing a DC circuit with a diode in a reversed polarity manner relative to RC-GTOs constituting an inverter. CONSTITUTION:A voltage type inverter equipment converts an AC power 1 into DC by thyristors 2-7, reactor 8, and capacitor 9; and supplies a load 19 with a given AC power by RC-GTOs 13-18, Also, a reactor 12 protects GTOs 13-18 from a surge current and a thyristor 11 protects said GTOs 13-18 by separating a fault current. In this case, a diode 20 is added to the inverter equipment. Thus, when a DC short-circuit occurs, its reverse current flows not through diodes of the GTOs 13-18 but through the diode 20. Therefore, since the reverse current does not flow through the diode part of said GTOs 13-18, neither a reverse recovery displacement current flows through said part, nor the GTO part is restruck.
