Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect a correct angle position even in case of slight eccentricity by providing two code detection heads at positions of point symmetry about a rotary shaft. CONSTITUTION:The code detection heads 3A and 3B are arranged at the position of point symmetry about the center of rotation of the rotary disk 1 and read a Gray code optically. An arithmetic circuit 25 performs arithmetic for erasing an error based upon the eccentricity by using the outputs signals of the heads 3A and 3B and outputs the result as a detection angle.
