Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The sorbitan-modified silicone compound of formulaI[R1W R8 are H, monovalent hydrocarbon group or group of formula II (X is bivalent organic group); at least one of R1WR8 is group of formula II; n is integer].
EXAMPLE: The compound of formula III.
USE: Surface active agent having high heat resistance and weather resistance.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIcan be prepared by reacting e.g. (A) an organohydrogen polysiloxane of formula IV or formula V (R' is H or monovalent hydrocarbon group; p≥1; q≥1; r≥1), etc. (e.g. the compound of formula VI) with (B) a sorbitan derivative having at least one aliphatic unsaturated bond in the molecule (e.g. the compound of formula VII) in the presence of an addition reaction catalyst[e.g.(alcohol-modified) chloroplatinic acid, etc.].
