Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve running performance of a tire on frozen and snow press- covered roads, by forming a hollowed padrt, in depth equal or less to that of a negative area, opened to a road surface and communicated to the negative area through a communication passage, in a positive area of a tread pattern. CONSTITUTION:A hollowed part 4, in depth equal or less to that of negative areas 2, 3, is formed in a positive area 1 of a tread pattern and communicated to the negative areas 2, 3 through a communication passage 5. When the hollowed part 4 of a tire is going to enter a grounded area, from the time for the hollowed part 4 to be placed on and covering a road surface G till the communication passage 5 is collapsibly closed by deformation due to overlapping of a trailing surface of a block 1 or rib 1' successively starting the grounding, the hollowed part 4 keeps communication to a main and subgroove 2, 3. Accordingly, air in the hollowed part is discharged. When the grounding is released, deformation of the hollowed part is restored to generated negative pressure in the inside, cause suction power of the road surface and improve grip. In this way, running performance on frozen surfaces can be improved.
