Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a film having patterned distinctive colors the tones of which are stable for a long period, by subjecting an Al materials, which has been anodized, to parimary electrolytic coloring, masking it, decoloring the exposed parts, and subjecting it to secondary electrolytic coloring different from the first mentioned coloring.
CONSTITUTION: An Al (alloy) material is previously treated to have an anodized film. Then it is subjected to primary electrilitical coloring treatment using a usual electrolyte containing metal salts so that the surfaces thereof are uniformly colored throughout. The surfaces are then applied or printed to be masked to have a desired pattern with an electrically insulating clear resin, and it is dipped or electrolitically treaed in a bath containing inorganic or organic acids (salts) to decolor the unmasked parts. Then it is introduced into a coloring electrolyte including a composition different from that of the primary coloring electrolyte to allow it to be subjected to electrolical coloring treatment, so that a film having two patterned distinctive colors is obtained. Thereafter, the same clear resin as used in the masking or a paint good in adhesion to the masking is applied as a protective film.
