Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the needs for manual work for knitting stripe materials impregnated with asphalt into a crossed netting by a method in which the stripe materials are mutually aligned in parallel at fixed intervals on a coarsely meshed netting and bonded fixedly.
CONSTITUTION: A heat-resistant woven fabric 1 of glass fibers, etc., is delivered to a working yard set in a coastal area, etc. And, asphalt is impregnated into the woven fabric 1 being drawn out of the rolled woven fabric, and the woven fabric is impregnated with asphalt, and cut by a cutter into a desired size of stripes 2. The stripes 2 are aligned in parallel at intervals on a coarsely meshed netting 3 and bonded by heating to obtain a core material. A mixture of asphalt and aggregate is melted and then injected into molds, and when the melted mixture is slightly cooled, said core material is laid over the melted mixture. Then, the same melted mixture is injected onto the core material to obtain a core-inserted asphalt mat.
