Abstract

PURPOSE: To absorb the expansion of a tube by providing an expansion joint on the tube plate on the tube side and connecting the joint to a fluid inlet chamber.
CONSTITUTION: An expansion joint 1 is provided on the tube plate 4 on the side of the fluid inlet connected to a fluid inlet chamber 5. The expansion joint 1 is protected by the cover of a heat insulating material 7. By absorbing the expansion of a tube 6 with such a constitution, a heat exchanger is made to be compact. In addition, the space for maintenance can be enlarged by reducing support works, while any wrong condition can be prevented from taking place even when the fluid passed through the side of a shell is corrosive.
