Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the radiative heat transmission in the lower zone of combustion and enhance the heating efficiency of slab by providing a duct in the lower part of combustion zone in the continuous heating of a slab in a heating surface with one or more of combustion zone and furnace hips.
CONSTITUTION: The slab 7 is charged into a continuous heating furnace with a combustion zone consisting of the uniform heating zone 1, the heating zone 2, and the preheating zone 3 and the furnace hip portion 4 and heated. In this case, the fireproof partition plate 15 is provided in the skid portions 13 and 14 of the lower zone 3b of the preheating zone 3 in order to form a waste gas duct by the plate 15 and the lower side of the slab 1. The combustion waste gas in the lower zone 2b of the heating zone 2 is directed from the guide 17 into the duct and then flowed into the furnace hip portion 4, during which period the lower side of the slab 1 is heated by the high-temperature waste gas and the temperature of the partition plate 15 is also raised, so that the radiative heat transmission in the lower zone is improved and the slab is uniformly heated from above and below, raising the heating efficiency remarkably.
