Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare L-alanine, continuously, in high efficiency, by the enzymatic reaction of L-aspartic acid in the presence of a specific catalytic system comprising immobilized microorganisms having L-aspartic acid β-decarboxylase activity and pyridoxal phosphate supplied into the reaction system in a specific manner.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution of L-aspartic acid or its salt and pyridoxal phosphate are introduced separately into a reactor containing immobilized microorganisms having L-aspartic acid β-decarboxylase activity, and L-aspartic acid produced by the enzymatic reaction is taken out of the system continuously. The amount of pyridoxal is pref. 10-6W10-2 mole per 1mol of L-aspartic acid, and the pH and the temperature of the reaction are pref. 4W7 and 20W50°C, respectively. The microorganisms are, e.g. Acetobacter rancens (OUT 8300). If DL-aspartic acid is used as the raw material, L-alanine and D-aspartic acid are obtained as the products.
