Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as perfumery or its intermediate, economically, with simple process, by reacting the crude reaction product of 1,3- diene cyclic oligomer directly with an acylating agent and an acid catalyst in the absence of a catalyst decomposing agent.
CONSTITUTION: A crude reaction product containing cyclic oligomers of 1,3-dienes, e.g. of formulas IWIV (R1W3 are H, C1W6 alkyl, or C2W6 alkenyl) and obtained by the oligomerization of 1,3-dienes in the presence of an oligomerization complex catalyst, is reacted with an acylating agent (an acid anhydride, acid chloride, etc., pref. acetic anhydride, etc.) in the presence of an acid catalyst (a Brnsted acid or a Lewis acid), to obtain the objective acylated derivative of a 1,3-diene cyclic oligomer. Since the acylating agent acts also as a deactivating agent for the oligomerization catalyst, the catalyst decomposition process and the cyclic oligomer purification process can be eliminated, and the objective compound can be obtained at a low cost.
