Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the fixing and holding of a lens sure by forming a frame for lens by the use of a metal material of a high rate of elongation and contraction such as an alloy mainly composed of an Ni-Ti intermetallic compound.
CONSTITUTION: A metal frame for the frame for spectacles is made by using an Ni- Ti intermetallic compound. The Ni-Ti intermetallic compound has elongation or contraction extremely higher than that of ordinary metals. This metal frame is bent to a desired ball-type shape and members 1 cut with screw threads to permit screwing and members 2 having threaded through-holes are brazed to both ends of the metal frame. The length of the metal frame is beforehand made shorter by about 0.5W5mm with respect to the peripheral length of the ball type of the lens. A lens is mounted to the metal frame and the members are fastened by screwing. The use of the Ni-Ti intermetallic compound in such a manner makes it possible to surely fix and hold the lens with respect to the peripheral length of the lens or frame of large variances.
