Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize a simple constitution requiring no synchronous circuit, by reading the time of reception when the surge arrives at the both-side electric centers of the falut point into a memory and then locating the fault point based on the time difference.
CONSTITUTION: When a fault occurs at the spot 13 of the transmission line 1, the surge arrival time at the electric centers A and B at both sides of the spot 13 varies according to the position of the spot 13. In these centers A and B, the reception time-signal signals of the broadcast or the like passing through the AND gates 4a and 4b which open when the surge arrives are stored in the memory circuits 5a and 5b. Then the spot 13 is orientated based on the difference of the surge propagation time according to the difference of the storage time. In such system using the standard electric wave, the synchronous device can be excluded, at the same time realizing an installation of the same device at both the centers A and B. Thus the constitution can be simplified for the fault point locating device.
