Abstract

PURPOSE: To form a modified polypropylene composition having good adhesion to polar materials, by incorporating a large amount of an unsaturation-free ethylene/ butene-1 random copolymer rubber.
CONSTITUTION: There are mixed together (A) 50W20pts.wt. propylene (co) polymer, MFI about 0.1W50g/10min, (B) 50W80pts.wt. unsaturation-free ethylene/ butene-1 random copolymer rubber, MFI about 0.1W100g/10min, (C) 0.05W 5pts.wt. unsaturated carboxylic acid (derivative) such as maleic anhydride and (D) an organic peroxide such as benzoyl peroxide. The resulting mixture is melt-mixed through a screw extruder at about 160W280°C for about 0.3W30min.
