Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize toner during storage, to enhance antitackiness against a rubber roller for fixing, and to enable a sharp image to be obtained at high speed, by incorporating a small amount of thermoplastic resin having a softening point in a specified range and not containing silicon atoms with a specified copolymer resin containing silicon atoms.
CONSTITUTION: A binder for toner is a composition consisting of a copolymer resin containing silicon atoms represented by formula I (R1 is H or CH3; Q is formula II; R2 is a hydrocarbon not having an aliphatic unsaturated group; m is 1W3; n is 1W10; a is 0W2; and p, q are defined by 100≤p+q≤2,000, 0.01<p/(p+q)≤ 0.03), and a 0W5pts.wt. thermoplastic resin not containing silicon atoms having a softening point of 80W120°C. An electrophotographic developing agent using this binder is superior in releasability from a rubber roller even after copying on many sheets, and high in storage stability witout lowering of fluidability, agglomeration, etc., and it does not cause ground staining on the copied image.
