Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a large accident occurrence by means of fast energy recovery from a failed superconductive coil unit, detective provisions are installed for detecting supercondictive coil quenching and permanent current switch abnormality. CONSTITUTION:When quenching occurs to the superconductive coil 1, the exciting switches 2a, 2b are controlled to off to permit the protective resistance 5 to perform energe recovery. When the superconductive coil 1 has aquired a current of specific value, the permanent current switch 4 is controlled to on to provide the state of permanent current. In association with the switch 4, the switch 8 is controlled to on to permit the second abnormality detector 9 to be connected to the coil 1. If abnormality occurs to the switch 4, the voltage across the superconductive coil 1 is applied to the detector 4, which implies the detection of abnormality. Then the detector 9 controls to turn off the exciting switches 2a, 2b, the permanent switch 4, and the switch 8 to permit the coil 1 energy to be guided to the protective resistance 5 to be recovered.
