Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable to display effectively the picture including intermediate tone, by supplying the potential of two levels inverting with a given period to the common electrode terminal.
CONSTITUTION: One falt plate out of a pair of the flat plates has one or a plurality of common transparent electrodes, and another has a plurality of electrodes arranging matrix on the entire display surface and isolated and independent electrically. Further, the gate drive circuit 6-1 and the drain drive circuit 6-2 drive the display panel and the video element signal is selectively fed to the electrode every video element 6-3 by means of the transistor. To the common electrode terminal 6-4, the potential of two levels inverting with a given period is fed, allowing to effectively display the picture including intermediate tone with liquid crystal.
