Abstract

PURPOSE: To sharply and surely print an optional pattern and facilitate the maintenance of printing equipment, by forming a predetermined intermediate segmental powder image on a net, removing unnecessary powder by air flow and electrostatically causing the resulting final powder image to adhere to a printed surface.
CONSTITUTION: A changer 11 is opened by a signal from a control panel 14 to connect an air source to a valve shifter 12. The shifter receives a signal from the control panel 14 to open a high-pressure flow regulating valve VH, which increases the quantity of ejection from nozzles 6 to a high level. The control panel 14 opens a stop valve 13b, for example, according to a signal from a computer 16 to blow away the powder of an unnecessary segment S2' of the intermediate powder image formed like "8" on the net 4 and suck the blown-away powder. Then, the high- pressure flow regulating valve VH is closed, a low-pressure flow regulating valve VL is opened, stop valves 13a, 13c,... are opened and the stop valve 13b is closed to buoy up the powder of segments S1', S3',... from the net 4 by air flow. The buoyed-up powder is caused to adhere to the printed surface 20 by an electric field generated between the net 4 and the printed surface.
