Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic pigment comprising broken pieces of vacuum-deposited metal foil, which is useful for use in baking paints, by releasing vacuum- deposited metal foil one or both surfaces of which are coated with an ultravoilet ray-curable resin paint from a base film on which the foil is formed, and breaking the released foil.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic pigment comprising bloken pieces of vacuum-deposited metal foil is prepared by coating (A) a base film with (B) an ultraviolet ray- curable resin paint, curing the coated film by irradiating the film with ultraviolet rays to form an undercoating layer, forming a vacuum-deposited fiol layer on the undercoating layer, coating the vacuum-deposited foil layer with the ultraviolet ray-curable paint, curing the coated film into a topcoating layer by irradiating the film with ultravoilet rays, (provided that either (B) or (D) can be omitted), releasing the 2 or 3-layered vacuum-deposited metal foil formed on (A) are breaking the foil.
