Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the title composition by mixing and stirring fumed silica and an alcoholic organic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of (A) 5-40 wt% of fumed silica having an average particle diameter of 2-20mμ, (B) 95-60 wt% of an alcoholic organic solvent having a refractive index of 1.35-1.50 and a boiling point of 70-200°C, e.g. ethyl alcohol, methylcellosolve, tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol, etc., and (C) an effective amount of a volatile component such as aromatic, deodorant, insecticide, etc., is thoroughly stirred, and allowed to stand and solidify.
EFFECT: Transparent gel stable against heat ahd vibration. The end point of its effectivity can be clearly recognized because it becoms opaque and horny after the dissipation of the effective component.
