Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate platelet useful for thrombocite transfusion for the remedy of leukemia, malignant tumor, etc., in high purity, yield, and in a short time by a simple procedure, by passing blood through a filter for capturing platelet, and treating the filter with a platelet-recovering liquid such as physiological saline water, etc.
CONSTITUTION: Blood, pref. added with an anti-coagulant such as heparin, etc., is passed through a filter capable of capturing platelet, e.g. polyacrylonitrile fiber, etc. packed in a column. The captured platelet is recovered by passing a platelet- recovering liquid free from proteins, e.g. physiological saline water, etc., through the filter containing the captured platelet. The platelet thus obtained has comparatively low degree of damaging, and contains only small amounts of erythrocyte, lymphocyte, granulocyte, etc.
