Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vermin repelling agent containing d-limonene as an active component, exhibiting quick action against hygienic vermin, stored food vermin and agricultural vermin to enable the repelling of the vermin at a low cost and safe to human body. SOLUTION: This vermin repellent contains preferably >=1.5 wt.% of d- limonene as a main component. d-Limonene is present in lemon oil, sweet-orange oil, bergamot oil, lime oil, etc., at high concentration. The vermin repellent can be used in the form of an impregnated sheet material produced by impregnating the agent in a substrate such as filter paper and nonwoven fabric, a molded plastic article such as the collar for animal or pet produced e.g. by kneading the agent in a plastic raw material, a liquid or jelly spraying agent or a sprayable powder agent. The vermin repellent is preferably applied at a rate of 1.5 mg/cm<2> for an agent containing 1.5 wt.% of d-limonene and 16 mg/cm<2> for an agent containing 16 wt.% of d-limonene.

2. Description of the Related Art With the change of living environment due to urbanization in recent years, various pests which have not been seen in the past have come to live close to humans or become parasitic. Examples of the pests include sanitary pests belonging to various classes such as flies, mosquitoes, cockroaches, fleas, moths and their larvae, ants, mites, and house pests such as termites, stains, igas, and beetle worms. There are also pests that are said to be stored food pests, urban green tract pests such as aphids and scale insects, and industrial pests such as Hirata chatter beetles. For example, recent pet booms such as fleas and mites called sanitary pests have made frequent contact with humans, and the fleas, especially their adults, always parasitize warm-blooded animals such as mammals and suck blood. They can also live as nutrients and transmit infectious diseases. In addition, mites damage stored foods, and indoor dust mites, in particular, cause allergies due to contact with human skin. In addition, as residential areas have developed into rural areas, things that were formerly insect pests, such as chatter beetles, have become urban pests. Therefore,
There is a growing demand for the development of drugs that effectively and safely control such pests.

Heretofore, as the pesticides for various kinds of pests as described above, those containing pyrethroid-based insecticidal components such as exmin, phenothrin and allethrin as the main components have been generally used. Known blends of diethyltramide and the like, and blends of these with a synergist such as pipenyl butoxide have been used. In recent years, products containing essential oils such as hinokitiol have been developed.

Generally, among the sanitary pests, fleas, mites, cockroaches, and the like are less susceptible to insecticides than conventional pests such as flies and mosquitoes. However, conventional pesticides cannot exert a sufficient pesticidal effect unless a large amount of the drug is used, and in that case, there is also a problem in terms of safety for humans and livestock when a large amount of the drug is used. Even those containing the above-mentioned essential oils can safely and effectively control various pests such as fleas, and none of them can be used at low cost.

[0007] In addition to lemon oil, d-limonene is relatively high in sweet orange oil, bergamot oil, lime oil, petiglen oil and the like, and is also included in peppermint oil, pine oil, hinoki oil, citronella oil and the like. Essential oils obtained from these essential oils by general methods such as fractionation. In addition, it has been proved in so-called aromatherapy (aromatic therapy) that d-limonene has low harm to humans, and on the contrary, its aroma relaxes humans.

[0008] The pesticidal composition according to the present invention effectively exerts the pesticidal effect against the above-mentioned various pests. Therefore, not only flies and mosquitoes but also hygiene such as fleas, mites and cockroaches can be used. Pests and insect pests of crops such as chrysoptera, their adults and their larvae, and their eggs are also effective in controlling insects.
It was confirmed that it exhibited.

The pesticidal composition according to the present invention is used as an impregnated sheet material obtained by impregnating a base material such as filter paper or nonwoven fabric, or for an animal which has been incorporated in a synthetic resin raw material in advance by kneading. It can be used as a resin molded product such as a collar or a pet collar, as a liquid or jelly-like spray, or as a powder that can be sprayed. In addition, as a liquid spray,
For example, it can be formulated in a diluted state by blending it in a desodium benzoate-denatured alcohol solution, and as a jelly spray, for example, an organic solvent such as alcohol or a surfactant can be used. It can be formulated by using an aqueous solution. As the powder, for example, precipitated calcium carbonate can be used as an excipient, and a stabilizer such as a sorbitan fatty acid ester can be added to the excipient.

[0011] The pesticidal composition prepared as described above is not limited differently depending on the target pest and usage, but is preferably in a dilution concentration range of 1.5% by weight or more. More preferably, it can be used in the range of 5% by weight to 16% by weight. When the content is 1.5% by weight or more, the effective control effect can be obtained, and when it is 5% by weight or more, a more rapid effect can be obtained. In addition, when the use concentration exceeds 16% by weight, the previous amount is effectively sufficient, so that it becomes economically negative.

In the method for controlling pests according to the present invention, the agent containing 1.5% by weight of d-limonene is substantially about 1.5 mg / cm 2 , and the agent containing about 16% by weight is substantially about 1.5 mg / cm 2 . An amount acting on a specific surface at a quantitative ratio of 16 mg / cm 2 is advantageous in that it can be used effectively and economically without any adverse effect.

(C) A filter paper (diameter 9 cm, Toyo Filter Paper No. 1) was spread in a petri dish, and 0.64 ml of the above-mentioned drug solution was dropped and impregnated on the filter paper on the filter paper surface on average with a pipette. Thereafter, 15 test insects described above were released and sealed with a Ciron film. (D) This was allowed to stand under environmental conditions of a temperature of 25 ° C. and a humidity of 60% RH, and the number of dead insects after 24 hours of the above treatment was counted, and this was repeated three times, and the mortality was calculated from the average value. The results are shown in Table 1. In addition, the case where the filter paper was not impregnated with any chemical was defined as a blank (shown as “BL” in Table 1 and the same in the following tables).

From the results shown in Table 1, it can be seen that the pesticidal composition containing d-limonene as a main component is excellent in controlling flea adults in comparison with blanks.
The effect varies depending on the concentration of the used solution, and it is confirmed that if the used concentration is 1.5% by weight or more, the effect that the mortality rate exceeds 50% can be obtained. It is also found that 3.0% by weight or more is extremely effective against flea adults.

Example 3 Cats were infested with 30 adult cat flea adults (1 day old after emergence), which had been continuously bred by our company, as a test plot, and left for 24 hours. Thereafter, a drug solution in which a d-limonene agent was dissolved in a 10% denatonium-denatured alcohol solution was spray-sprayed on the body surface of each cat at a rate of 8 ml per 1 kg of the body weight of the cat, and the sprayed portion was brushed and then sprayed. Air dried. The cat was equipped with an Elizabeth collar to avoid grooming. Each cat treated in this manner was allowed to stand under the environmental conditions of spring (average temperature 25 ° C., average humidity 60% RH), and after 24 hours and 48 hours after the treatment, the number of parasitoid fleas was counted. The insect rates were determined and are shown in Table 9. In addition, the average value in Table 9 is the value of the mortality calculated as the average value of three cats.
