Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease the operation burden by determining one from in processings defined in common among all objects corresponding to a selected icon, and repeating this processing to all the objects corresponding to the selected icon. CONSTITUTION:The subject system is provided with an icon selecting means 11, a processing selecting means 12, and a repetition processing means 13, plural icons corresponding to an arbitrary object being a processing object are selected, and also, one is determined from in processings defined in common among all objects corresponding to the selected icon, and the determined processing is repeated to all the processing request to a computer from a user, especially, at the time of requesting the same processing to plural processing objects, a monotonous repeating operation is replaced with a batch operation, and the operation burden of the user can be reduced.

In FIG. 1, the icon selection means 11 acquires and stores information on each object corresponding to a plurality of icons on the screen selected by the user. Further, the information is transmitted to the process selection means 12, and executable processes that are commonly defined for these objects are displayed on the screen as a menu. The process selection means 12 allows the user to select one of them, and acquires and stores information on the selected process. The iterative processing means 13 transmits the object information stored by the icon selection means 11 one by one to the module that performs the execution process stored by the processing selection means 12, and repeats the above operation at 1 when the object information is exhausted. This method is structured accordingly.

Continue to draw other icons in Figure 3 with the pointer 20.
If you specify this, multiple selections can be made, and the document icons 52 whose selections have been stored are similarly highlighted. These are performed by the icon selection means of this method. In FIG. 4, when the menu 30 is pointed with the pointer 20, a process commonly defined for all icons 51, 52 whose selections have been stored is presented. At this time, commonly selectable menu items are represented by solid line characters as represented by 31, and other menu items are represented by broken line characters as represented by 52. In FIG. 5, one process is selected by pointing the menu item 33 in the menu 30 with the pointer 20, and the selection is stored. These are performed by the processing selection means 12 of this system. In FIG. 6, a similar folder icon 53 is generated on the screen as a result of applying the copying process stored in the process selection means to the folder icon 51.

(Effects of the Invention) As explained above, the present invention enables the selection of a plurality of icons corresponding to any object to be processed, and the processing that is commonly defined among all the objects corresponding to the selected icons. By determining one of them and repeating the determined process for all objects corresponding to the selected icon, it is possible to respond to processing requests from users to the computer, especially for multiple processing targets. When requesting the same process, monotonous repeated operations are replaced with batch operations, which has the effect of reducing the operational burden on the user.
