There is a step in the width direction (generally the width of the packing box is wider than the width of the cab). For this reason, when driving at high speeds, the wind flowing along the cab collides with the front end of the cargo box and goes around behind the cab, creating a severe eddy and increasing air resistance.
This causes deterioration of fuel efficiency. Therefore, a rectifying plate, usually called a side deflector, is installed between the rear end of the side wall of the cab and the front end of the side wall of the cargo box. It is configured so that it flows smoothly along the side wall of the packing box,
Vehicles that reduce air resistance during driving and improve fuel efficiency have already been proposed. (1) To facilitate inspection and maintenance of various equipment and parts installed behind the cab, this type of side deflector is normally installed between the rear end of the cab side wall and the front end of the cargo box side wall. It is preferably positioned so as to close off the steps or spaces between the two as much as possible, but it is preferable that it can be easily opened to provide a work space for inspection, maintenance, etc.; Drilling mounting bolt holes directly on the outer panel should be avoided as much as possible from the perspective of rust, and (3) is easy to install not only on newly manufactured trucks but also on existing vehicles. It is desirable that the device be able to be attached to the However, no conventional side deflector has been provided that can satisfy the above three technical requirements.

容易に代替することができる。 As shown in the perspective view of FIG. 2, the side deflector 18 is made of a substantially rectangular plate as a whole, preferably made of a lightweight reinforced plastic material such as FRP, and its front edge An upper hinge piece 20 and a lower hinge piece 22 each having a U-shaped cross section are provided at the upper and lower ends nearby,
These hinge pieces 20 and 22 are pivotally connected to an upper hinge device 26 and a lower hinge device 28 disposed near the rear end of the side wall of the cab 12 via a common rod-shaped hinge shaft 24. The upper hinge device 26 is
As shown in detail in Figures 3 to 5,
An upper horizontal side 32 on which two longitudinal tightening bolts 30 are screwed together, a lower horizontal side 34 arranged approximately parallel to the horizontal side 32, and the upper horizontal side 32 and the lower horizontal side 34.
The first member 38 has a vertical side 36 that is integrally connected with the first member 38 and extends in the vertical direction, and the head of a horizontal tightening bolt 42 is fixed to the vertical side 40 by welding or the like. It is composed of a second member 44. Then, the lateral side 46 of the second member 44 is connected to the cab 1 through a cushion 48 such as a rubber sheet.
At the same time, the lower horizontal side 34 of the first member 38 is brought into contact with the lower surface of the drip rail 50 via a similar cushion 52, and the tightening bolt 30
At the same time, tighten the tightening bolt 4 of the second member 44.
2 into the bolt hole 54 on the vertical side 36 of the first member and tighten the nut 56.
The member 38 is firmly fixed to the drip rail 50. Further, a claw piece 58 is provided protruding from the lower end of the vertical side 36 of the first member 38, and the claw piece 58 is attached to a mating flange 60 of the back panel protruding from the back surface of the cab 12.
Further, the first member 38 is more firmly fixed to the rear upper end portion of the cab 12 by being fixed using a U-shaped clamp 62 shown in FIG. 5 with a tightening bolt (not shown). Incidentally, on the vertical side 36 of the first member, as shown in FIG. It is fixed by appropriate means such as bolts. On the other hand, as shown in the perspective views of FIGS. 2 and 6, the lower hinge device 28 connects its inner end to the rear cross sill 6, which is a strength member of the cab 12.
6 is provided with two bolt holes 68' for fastening by means of tightening bolts 68, together with a bracket, not shown, originally provided for fixing the intake snorkel already mentioned. Co-tightening bolt 70 screwed into rear cross sill 66
The hinge fitting 72 has a bolt hole for use, and its upper end is fixed to the hinge fitting 72 with a bolt or the like, and its lower end is fixed to the rear fender 74 of the cab 12.
It is also fixed with bolts etc. It also includes a reinforcing stay 76. Above hinge fitting 7
2 is the mating flange 60 from the fixed end on the inside of the vehicle.
The lower hinge piece 22 of the side deflector 18 is pivotally connected to the outer free end of the lower hinge piece 22 via a hinge shaft 24. As shown in FIG. 2, an automatic door closing device 78 similar to a door closer that has been widely used for building doors is interposed between the side deflector 18 and the cab 12. During operation, the side deflector 18 is held in a predetermined operating position by the automatic door closing device, but when it is desired to open the side deflector 18 for maintenance or inspection, the side deflector 18 can be opened by applying an opening force to the deflector. , the side deflector is hinged to the shaft 24
It is possible to easily carry out the required work by rotating it around the holder and holding it in the open position by a stopper part (not shown). Furthermore, in a truck configured to elastically support the cab 12 on the undercarriage frame via a suspension device in order to improve riding comfort, the relative displacement between the cab 12 and the cargo box 14 is large. It is preferable that a lip 80 having sufficient flexibility is attached to the rear edge of the side deflector 18 that abuts or is adjacent to the cargo box 14 . The stay 76 can be omitted if the hinge fitting 72 has sufficient strength, and the automatic door closing device 8 can be replaced by an equally effective and inexpensive device that combines a toggle link and a spring. Can be easily replaced.

ことができる。 According to the above configuration, as described above, the side deflector 18 is pivotally supported at its upper and lower ends near its front end by the hinge devices 26 and 28, so that the side deflector 18 can be easily adjusted to its original operating position and for inspection and maintenance. The open position, which provides a working opening, has the advantage of being easily displaced with a single touch. Next, since the upper hinge device 26 is clamped and fixed using the drip rail 50 and the mating flange 60 auxiliary, there is no need to drill holes in the outer panel of the cab, and the lower hinge device 28 is also fixed by the bolts of the rear cross sill 66. It can be attached to the cab by simply drilling two new bolt holes at the positions corresponding to the holes 68', and the rear cross sill 66 is originally a strength member and is thicker than a normal cab outer plate, and is coated with anti-rust paint. After applying the
Even if it rusts, it has sufficient durability, and due to its location, there will be no problems such as rain leaking into the passenger compartment. Furthermore, the side deflector 18 can be installed quickly, easily, and inexpensively even on existing vehicles.

It has the advantage of being extremely easy to move to an open position that provides an access passage for inspection and maintenance, and there are no bolt holes or the like drilled in the cab outer plate, and the sill area has a minimum number of holes. Since it is only necessary to drill bolt holes, it is extremely advantageous in terms of rust prevention, and there is also the advantage that the side deflector can be easily installed not only in newly manufactured trucks but also in existing vehicles to improve fuel efficiency.
