Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a plastic sheet of improved decorative effect by forming the sheet from a composition in which very thin mica particles coated with titanium dioxide are dispersed so that it may reflect light rays of a specified color and may transmit light rays of the complementary color. CONSTITUTION:A decorative sheet formed from a transparent plastic in which particles prepared by coating very thin mica particles of a thickness of 0.05-2.0mu with titanium dioxide in a film thickness of 30-500mu so that it may reflect light rays of a specified color and may transmit light rays of the complementary color of the specified color. As the mica used, one which is obtained from virtually colorless and transparent muscovite by a wet process and can give a smooth surface is desirable. The coating of the titanium dioxide can be usually performed by coating it with hydrated titanium dioxide and crystallizing it by roasting at 800-900 deg.C. It is necessary that the plate faces of the respective titanium dioxide-coated mica (pearlescent pigmet) 1 should be oriented in a given direction in the transparent plastic sheet 2. Although the plastic sheet can show a hue even if the plate faces are not oriented, the intensity of color is weak.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] <Industrial Application Fields> The present invention is a plastic sheet that changes color, and is a decorative sheet in which the colors of reflected light and transmitted light have a complementary color relationship. It is useful as a base material in various applications. 《Prior Technology》 Conventionally, the most basic and widely used method for coloring plastics is to uniformly disperse inorganic or organic colorants into the resin. In this method, the color is obtained by selective absorption, in which the pigment absorbs some of the white light that is emitted onto it, while transmitting it and reflecting it, making the color of the plastic surface artificial and sloppy. The flat colors give a monotonous feel. It is also common and often used to give indications or designs by adding multicolored letters or photographs to the surface of plastic using printing techniques such as gravure printing or offset printing. Using this printing technology, it becomes possible to freely add designs to the surface of plastics, and the amount of information that can be displayed becomes enormous. However, the design lacks depth in color and lacks three-dimensionality. Recently, methods have been used to enhance the design by controlling light to create this three-dimensional effect. For example, by creating fine irregularities on the surface in a certain direction, we are conscious of the areas where light reflects and the areas that cast shadows. It can be created manually to give it an effect, or it can be made partially glossy by vapor-depositing metals such as aluminum, gold, silver, etc. on the surface, or it can be printed as particles with an appropriate vehicle, or it can be made to look like a hologram. Techniques that use optical interference to create a three-dimensional appearance are also becoming popular. In this way, the design is used for home appliances, furniture, interior decoration,
It is essential in various fields such as automobiles, and is an element that appeals to the human senses, such as the image, texture, and shape of materials. Visual perception, which is said to have the largest amount of information among the human senses, is undergoing efforts to differentiate itself from others, especially in terms of color, and there is a need for plastic sheets with more advanced designs. ing. 《
Problems to be Solved by the Invention} The purpose of the present invention is to provide a plastic sheet with improved design, particularly in terms of the color of the material itself. (Means for solving j!IJI!rl) That is, the present invention is a sheet formed by dispersing titanium dioxide-coated particles on the surface of microflake mica in a transparent plastic, and using a sheet that is formed by dispersing titanium dioxide-coated particles on the surface of microflake mica. This is a design sheet characterized by reflecting light rays and transmitting light rays of a complementary color to the specific color. The transparent plastic used in the present invention may be any crystalline or non-crystalline plastic that can be processed into a film sheet. For example, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polypropylene, olefin resins such as polyethylene, polyester (PET)
, PETG), polycarbonate (PC), polyacrylonitrile (PAN), or acrylic resins such as polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), or polystyrene (
Transparent resins such as PS) can be used. Using this resin as a vehicle, scaly mica coated with a thin film of titanium dioxide is dispersed. The titanium dioxide referred to herein may be of the rutin type or the anatase type, and its thickness is preferably 30 to 500 mμ. It is preferable that the scale mica is obtained by a wet method that produces a muscovite that is closest to colorless and transparent and has a smooth surface, but this is not specified in the present invention, and the thickness is 0.0
5-2. 0 77 m, but the size is preferably 10 to 200 pm. Although the coating method is not specified here, it is generally coated with titanium dioxide hydrate and crystallized by melting at 800 to 90°C. The reason why a plastic sheet develops various hues is that among the light rays entering the sheet, light is reflected at the boundary between the titanium dioxide-coated mica vehicle and titanium dioxide, and light is reflected at the boundary between titanium dioxide and mica. It appears when the light interferes with the light. Therefore, the color produced is determined by the thickness of the titanium dioxide film and the mica, and of the light that passes through the sheet, only the light of the wavelength that is transmitted without being reflected by the titanium dioxide-coated mica can be seen. Therefore, the hue when the sheet is viewed with reflected light and the hue when viewed with transmitted light have a mutually complementary color relationship.

The intensity of color development, that is, the color density, depends on the addition of the titanium dioxide-coated mica to the vehicle, and also changes in the arrangement of the titanium dioxide-coated mica in the vehicle. The amount added can be varied depending on the thickness of the film and the intended use, but it is preferably 0.5 to 10 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of the film. The arrangement is important; as shown in Figure 1, it is necessary that the plate-like surfaces of each particle of scaly mica are aligned in a fixed direction. Even if they are not arranged, the hue will be shown, but the intensity of the color will be weak.

There are extrusion methods, press rolling methods, calendar roll methods, stretching methods, etc. as methods for producing plastic sheets.
In this case, any method can be used. However, if the titanium dioxide-coated scaly mica is broken into small pieces during the manufacturing process, or if the orientation and dispersion of the particles are uneven during the coating process, the color may not develop or the color may be weak. Therefore, you need to be careful. In addition to the transparent plastic, additives such as stabilizers, antioxidants, lubricants, reinforcing agents, etc. necessary in the sheet manufacturing process may be added as long as they do not significantly impair transparency.

.. When the sheet was prepared at 5 tm, a PVC sheet was obtained which was green in reflected light and red in transmitted light. (Effects of the Invention) According to the present invention, the reflected light has a pearlescent hue of gold, red, purple, blue, and green, and the transmitted light has a complementary color of each hue, that is, purple, green, yellow, orange, and red. It is possible to obtain a plastic sheet that has a functional design that looks as if it were made of plastic, and has a pale overall color tone, that is, a so-called pastel color tone. If the decorative sheet of the present invention is used, laminated packaging films, packaging materials for plastic cases, interior goods such as lampshades, blinds, roll curtains, wallpaper, guards, labels, etc.
For products in the field of daily necessities such as malls, etc., the aforementioned ``gold vs. purple'' and ``red vs. green'' conditions are determined by factors such as ambient brightness, how transparent light enters, and the color tone and shape of the contents. ”, “
It changes depending on the complementary color relationship of ``purple vs. yellow,'' ``blue vs. orange,'' and ``green vs. red,'' and the surface has a burl-like shine, making it possible to provide a high level of design as well as adding value such as anti-counterfeiting and display functions. It can bring about 4,
