Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance abrasion resistance by forming a film consisting of ceramics or cermets on the outer surface of a joint. CONSTITUTION:In the titled joint 1, a film 1B consisting of ceramics or cermets is formed on the outer surface of a joint body 1A consisting of carbon steel or high-chromium alloy steel. And the film 1B is formed by means of plasma spray technique so as to have a film thickness of 50 to 300mum. Thus, abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance can be enhanced.

A film with a thickness of 80 μm was formed on the outer surface of a drill pipe tool joint made of 5135) and 12% Cr steel. As is clear from the sole joints of the present invention prepared in this way and Table 1 on which no film was formed, the outer surface of the tool joints of the present invention was more resistant to wear than the outer surface of the comparative tool joints. It can be seen that the quality is significantly superior.
