Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a yellow toner having satisfactory spectral reflecting characteristics, superior environmental resistance and durability by incorporating a specified compd. into a binder resin. CONSTITUTION:A compd. belonging to C.I. Disperse Yellow 160 is incorporated into a binder resin. This compd. is a dye having a quinoline skeleton and is incorporated by 0.1-20pts.wt., preferably 1-10pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. resin. The binder resin can be selected among various kinds of resins and polystyrene or a styrene-acrylate copolymer may be used. A yellow toner having satisfactory spectral reflecting characteristics, superior environmental resistance and durability is obtd.

In addition, in recent years, it has become possible to form an electrostatic latent image of the document by exposing it to spectral light, and then develop the image with colored toners of each color to obtain a colored copy image, or to overlay the copy images of each color. At the same time, a method of color copying to obtain full-color copied images has been put into practical use, and color toners such as yellow, magenta, and cyan, which are made by dispersing dyes and/or pigments of each color in a binder resin, have been manufactured. t

On the other hand, the binder resin for the yellow toner of the present invention can be selected from a wide range including known ones. Specifically, styrene fruit resins such as polystyrene, styrene-acrylic acid ester copolymer, styrene-methacrylic acid ester copolymer, and styrene-butadiene copolymer, vinyl chloride resin, polyethylene, and polypropylene can be exemplified. , these resins may be used in combination as appropriate. Among these, it is advantageous to use styrene resins, saturated or unsaturated polyester resins, and/or epoxy resins.

Furthermore, a known colorless charge control agent may be added to the toner of the present invention, if necessary. For example, when obtaining a negatively chargeable toner, metal complexes of salicylic acid or alkylsalicylic acid are used, while when obtaining a positively chargeable toner, quaternary ammonia can be used without impairing the properties of the toner. This is preferable because it can impart sufficient chargeability to the toner.

The above carrier has a particle size of 0 to 0. Conventionally known materials such as iron powder and ferrite powder with a diameter of about 200 μm can be used. Moreover, those coated with a silicone resin, an acrylic resin, a fluororesin, or a mixture of these resins on the surface of the tongs can also be suitably used. A suitable mixing weight ratio of carrier and toner is 100:/-10.
