Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve linear running and drainage on a road surface in which rain grooves are formed, by a method wherein straight grooves are formed laterally symmetrically about a virtual line circumferentially drawn at the given section of a tread and inclined at a given angle with the virtual line so that a projected wedge shape is formed in a rotation direction. CONSTITUTION:A virtual line (t) is circumferentially drawn at a central area having a width being approximate 1/3 an earthing width W of a tread, and straight grooves 1, 1', 2, 2'... are formed laterally symmetrically about the virtual line. The straight grooves 1, 1', 2, 2'... are inclined at an angle of 1-15 deg.C with the circumferential direction of a tyre, and is formed in a projected wedge shape in the rotation direction of the tyre. This constitution enables improvement of linear running and drainage on a road surface in which rain grooves are formed.

When driving at high speeds in the rain, the tires may lift off the road surface and become uncontrollable (hydroplaning). Conventionally, as a countermeasure for this problem, a plurality of grooves parallel to the traveling direction called rain loops are formed on the road surface to improve drainage, and grooves parallel to the tire circumferential direction EE' are formed on the tire tread surface as shown in Fig. 3. Straight grooves are provided at 1.1° and 2.2'.

However, in this case, there is a problem in that the straight groove partially fits into the rain loop, causing the steering wheel to be taken off, making it difficult to drive straight, a so-called rain group wandering phenomenon.

For this reason, the present invention provides straight grooves symmetrically on the trend surface with an imaginary line drawn in the circumferential direction of the tire as an axis of symmetry, and these symmetrical straight grooves form a wedge shape convex in the rotational direction. Abstract: A pneumatic tire characterized in that the straight groove has an angle of 1'' to 15° with respect to the tire circumferential direction, and further, the virtual line exists in a central region having a width approximately 1/3 of the tread contact width. shall be.

The angle θ with respect to the tire circumferential direction EE' of ", 2°, 2°, ... is in the range of 1" to 15", preferably 3° to 8°. If it is less than 1', the rain group wandering phenomenon occurs. This is because straight-line driving becomes difficult, while if it exceeds 15'', drainage performance deteriorates and steering stability deteriorates due to the hydroplaning phenomenon. Also, virtual, i
t exists in a central region having a width approximately ⅓ of the tread contact width W. This is to bring the virtual line t to the ground contact center in accordance with the camber value of the vehicle, thereby further improving drainage performance.
