Information is recorded / erased by modulating laser light with a signal from external information and then irradiating the recording medium by focusing it optically, or by irradiating the recording medium with focused laser light of a certain intensity. In an optical information recording / reproducing / erasing apparatus for reading recorded information, for example, an optical disk apparatus, processing for knowing the life of an optical disk medium by a light beam is not performed. Generally, in a rewritable optical disk device, an optical disk medium to be used erases data once recorded and records again in the same area depending on the intended use. Therefore, if this recording-reproducing-erasing is repeated many times, The optical disk medium deteriorates and the frequency of error occurrence increases.

Next, the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a schematic configuration diagram showing an embodiment of the present invention. The optical disk device of the present invention uses the command signal 1 from the host system A.
An instruction decoding means B for receiving and decoding the necessary operation, and an optical head D for receiving an instruction signal 2 from the instruction decoding means B and driving it with an instruction signal 3 through a recording-reproducing-erasing means C.
Optical disk medium E on which data is recorded, reproduced, and erased by the optical head D, and recording, reproduction, and data from the optical disk medium E are performed.
A quality monitoring means F for receiving and editing the result data signal 4 for editing and managing the data for quality monitoring, a command signal 5 for recording the edited data on the optical disk medium E again, and an optical head D from the optical disk medium E. The recording / reproducing-erasing data signal 6, the data signal 7 from the recording / reproducing-erasing means C to the instruction decoding means B, and the data signal 8 from the instruction decoding means B to the host system A. Second
The figure shows one embodiment of the present invention, which is an optical disk medium E used.
Provides a quality monitoring data area H on the innermost side of the accessible data track area G.

When a store-play-erase command is received from the host system A, the target address included in the command is first decoded by the command decoding means B.
The recording / reproducing-erasing process is performed on the optical disc medium E via the recording-reproducing-erasing means C and the head D. In the result data signal 4 received by the processing at this time, only quality monitoring data is edited in the quality monitoring means F, and the quality monitoring data edited as a result is recorded again in the quality monitoring data area H of the optical disc medium E. In order to do so, the command signal 5 is issued. Receiving this command signal 5, recording / reproducing / erasing means C
Performs a recording process on the optical disc medium E. At this time, if the quality monitoring data edited by the quality monitoring means F exceeds a certain threshold value, the optical disc being used by the host system A is immediately passed through the recording-reproducing-erasing means C and the instruction decoding means B. Report a decrease in reliability of medium E. Also,
When recording the quality monitoring data in the quality monitoring data area H, the quality of the quality monitoring data area H must be secured at the same time. In this embodiment, from the innermost circumference, one is packed each time by a method similar to that of an optical disk device dedicated to recording and reproduction.
Recording processing is performed until all recordable areas of the quality monitoring data area H are filled, and when the quality monitoring data area H is completely recorded, the quality monitoring data area H is completely erased and used again from the innermost area. Take the way. At this time, a certain threshold value is set for the number of times the quality monitoring data area H is erased, and when this threshold value is reached, recording-reproducing-is immediately performed.
Host system A through erasing means C and instruction decoding means B
We report a decrease in reliability of the optical disk medium E being used. The above-mentioned two certain thresholds refer to the minimum values at which the reliability of the optical disc medium E can be guaranteed.

As described above, the optical disk device of the present invention counts the error frequency due to medium deterioration, which occurs as the recording-reproducing-erasing process by the light beam is repeated many times on the same medium, and the optical frequency on the same medium is counted. Since the quality of the medium is recorded in the quality monitoring data area and the quality of the medium is controlled even in the number of times the quality monitoring area is erased, it is possible to confirm how much the medium currently in use is deteriorated. This is effective in avoiding a situation in which valuable data cannot be reproduced due to a defect due to deterioration of the medium and enhances reliability of the optical disk device.
