板に溶接してギア軸をキャリアに固定せざるを得なくな
り、ギア軸の溶接に手間がかかって生産性が悪くなる。
かかる、不具合を解消すべく、間片を介して連結される
1対の側板を有するキャリアを2個設けて該各キャリア
にプラネタリギアを担持させ、キャリア同士を連結して
ダブルプラネタリキャリアを構成することも考えられる
が、この場合には2組のプラネタリギアの相対位置精度
を如何にして確保するかが課題となる。即ち、上記従来
例のキャリアでは、中間の側板に2組のプラネタリギア
のギア軸が夫々嵌合するため、中間の側板を基準にして
2組のプラネタリギアの相対位置精度が確保されるが、
2組のプラネタリギアを各別のキャリアに担持させる場
合には、各キャリアの製造公差やキャリア同士の連結時
の位置決め公差等により2組のプラネタリギアの相対位

造した後、各キャリア4、5の両側板間に各プラネタリ
ギア2、3をその両端にワッシャ21、31を添接させ
た状態で挿入し、次いでプラネタリギア2、3の内周に
装着したニードルベアリング22、32に貫通するギア
軸23、33を両側板に跨るように組付けた後、ギア軸
23、33をその両端をかしめて各キャリア4、5に固
定し、キャリアアッセンブリの組立を行う。第2キャリ
ア5の内側の側板51の外周には、該側板51に対向す
る第1キャリア4の内側の側板41を受け入れる筒部5
1aが形成されており、該側板41の外周と筒部51a
とに夫々外向きと内向きのセレーション歯45、55を
形成して、第1と第2の両キャリア4、5をセレーショ
ン係合させるようにした。また、第1キャリア4の側板
41の背面の周囲複数箇所に、図4及び図5に示す如
く、セレーション歯45の歯山部に位置する凹溝部46
を形成すると共に、筒部51aの先端の周囲複数箇所を
セレーション歯55の歯谷部において径方向内方にかし
め、このかしめ部56を前記凹溝部46に係合させて、
両キャリア4、5を軸方向に不動に連結し、ダブルプラ
ネタリキャリア1を構成するようにした。尚、筒部51
aを側板41の背方に突出するように形成し、この突出
部の内周に側板41の背面に係合するサークリップを装
