いづれにしても従来の天秤は縫製時には必ず目孔に糸通
しを行っておかねばならず、目孔に糸を通すための作業
が必要であった。目孔への糸通しを行うに当たってはま
た、目孔がフレーム外に突出していなければならない。
近年デザイン上また安全上からもフレーム外に突出する
器具を内蔵してコンシールド化する試みが種々なされて
いるが、目孔への糸通しを行うためには目孔の軌跡は少
なくともその一部がフレーム外に突出していなければな
らず、したがって天秤に関してはミシン外に全く突出す
ることのないように内蔵することはできなかった。

係合し、該糸を捕捉牽引するようになっている(復動時
には牽引を解除し、糸にたるみが生じる)。

により捕捉されてV状に牽引されるが、天秤の往動開始
側に設けたガイドで糸が捕捉される当初から屈折される
ため、糸の繰り込み量が多くなり、したがって天秤が往
復動する量を少なくすることができると共に、糸はガイ
ドの目孔に通されてその動きが拘束されるため、糸は常
に同じ位置で一定量牽引されるようになり、縫い目形成
に必要な糸量を常に確保することができる。
