(A) Industrial Application Field The present invention relates to a cockroach repellent that is safe for the human body. More specifically, the present invention relates to a cockroach repellent characterized by containing as an active ingredient anise oil and/or bay oil, which are natural essential oils that have been used as fragrances since ancient times. (B) Conventional technology There are approximately 44 types of cockroaches distributed around the world, mainly in tropical regions, but examples of domestic cockroaches in Japan include the German cockroach, black cockroach, Yamato cockroach, and American cockroach. well known. These cockroaches are not only food pests, but also pests that are extremely unclean in terms of hygiene, along with houseflies as disease propagators. These cockroaches are omnivorous pests that congregate and hide in crevices where they have favorable access to water and food, and wander around at night on food scraps in the kitchen. In recent years, the distribution area and number of cockroaches have been increasing significantly. These phenomena have occurred because the spread of heating equipment in homes and buildings and the abundance of food have encouraged winter habitat and multiplication activities. Methods for controlling these cockroaches include spraying or applying highly persistent insecticides to cockroaches' hiding places and passageways, taking advantage of their nocturnal activity, and using containers that have been sprayed or applied, or by using their aggregation properties. A method of capturing cockroaches using a container containing both an adhesive and an attractant, and a method of repelling cockroaches by using a container coated with a repellent to take advantage of its repellent action are known. Examples of repellents that utilize the action of repelling cockroaches include menthol (Japanese Patent Application Laid-open No. 104202-1983),
Known examples include N-geranyl dimethylamine, N-citronel dimethylamine, N-neryl dimethylamine (Japanese Patent Publication No. 58-113105), cinnamyl alcohol, eugenol, safrole, cinnamyl acetate (Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 50-105821), etc. There is. (C) Problems to be solved by the invention Examples of the above-mentioned menthol, N-geranyldimethylamine, N-citronellyldimethylamine, N-neryldimethylamine, cinnamyl alcohol, which have been reported as cockroach repellents in the past. The repellent action of eugenol, safrole, cinnamyl acetate, etc. against cockroaches has the disadvantage that it is not always satisfactory. (D) Means for Solving the Problems In order to solve the above-mentioned disadvantages and disadvantages, the present inventors have conducted extensive research on the repellent effects of a large number of fragrances on cockroaches. As a result, it was discovered that anise oil and/or bay oil, which are natural essential oils that have been used as fragrances since ancient times, have an extremely excellent repellent effect on cockroaches and have an excellent long-lasting effect. Anise oil and bay oil, which are natural essential oils used as active ingredients in the cockroach repellent of the present invention, are easily available on the market. In the cockroach repellent of the present invention, such natural essential oils can be used alone or in combination as a cockroach repellent as they are, but they can also be used after being adsorbed, mixed or dispersed on a suitable carrier. Examples of the carrier include geriatric earth, alumina, acid clay, wood flour, kaolin, bennite, activated carbon, and silica. These carriers can also be used singly or as a mixture of two or more.
It can also be used by impregnating or kneading various synthetic resins. Furthermore, if necessary, emulsifiers, dispersants, suspending agents, spreading agents, penetrants, wetting agents, stabilizers, etc. may be added to produce oils, emulsions, wettable powders, powders, tablets, etc.
It can also be used in the form of a spray. The cockroach repellent of the present invention also includes anise oil and/or
Or insecticides, synergists, other repellents in addition to bay oil,
It can also be used in combination with fragrances, bactericides, antifungal agents, etc. The cockroach repellent of the present invention, which can be obtained as described above, can be used to repel cockroaches by, for example, directly spraying, dispersing, or applying the cockroach habitat, hiding place, or passageway. It is possible to effectively prevent damage caused by cockroaches by forcing them to escape from a certain area. There is no particular restriction on the amount of anise oil and/or bay oil to be used, which are the active ingredients of the cockroach repellent of the present invention, and they can be selected and used as appropriate. It is not necessary to use a particularly large amount in order to show a repellent effect in a small amount, but for example, when creating a repellent area by coating, aerosol, etc.
g/ cm2 or more or as an active ingredient in the air
It is desirable to have it present at 0.5 ppm or more. (E) Effect It was discovered for the first time by the present invention that the natural essential oils selected from anise oil and bay oil, which are the active ingredients used in the cockroach repellent of the present invention, exhibit a repellent effect against cockroaches. , its action and effects will be illustrated by the following examples. (F) Example (1) A piece of 10 cm x 4.5 cm square paper is folded into a corrugated shape large enough for cockroaches to penetrate, and 0.05 ml of the present invention product and the control product are applied to the paper at a constant concentration. Next, place two pieces of corrugated paper coated with the same type of cockroach repellent and two pieces of blank corrugated opening paper on the four corners of a transparent plastic case for rearing cockroaches, measuring 40 cm long, 25 cm wide, and 28 cm high. They were placed alternately and the repellent effect was observed. (Due to their habit, cockroaches tend to gather in dark places in the corners of rearing cases.) To determine the repellent effect, a total of 20 adult German cockroaches (10 male and 10 male) were released into the above rearing case, and 3 hours later. The number of cockroaches present in a corrugated piece of paper coated with a cockroach repellent was determined. The results are shown in Tables 1 and 2, and the repellent of the present invention showed superior repellent effects against male and female adult German cockroaches compared to the control product. .

(G) Effects of the invention Anise oil and bay oil, which can be used as the cockroach repellent of the present invention, have been used as fragrances since ancient times and are safe for the human body, so they can be used without being restricted to where they can be used. . Furthermore, the cockroach repellent of the present invention has superior repellent effect and durability compared to conventionally known repellents, and can be easily manufactured industrially.
