【発明の詳細な説明】
脈拍感応装置
技術分野
本発明は脈拍感応装置に関し、特に脈拍計及び脈拍酸素計測装置(pulse
axitgetry devices)に関するが、これらに限定されるもので
はない。
背景技術
脈拍酸素計測装置及びその他のいくつかの脈拍感応装置では、血液の洸れ又は他
の体液の流れの脈動によって、体の組織を通過又は反射される光に変化が生じる
という作用を利用している。このような脈拍感応装置は、電気的出力信号を発生
する光センサを備えており、該信号を分析して、例えば胆拍数又は血液の酸素飽
和度のような様々なパラメータを測定することができる。これらの装置の利点は
、それらが無侵襲的であって、関連するパラメータを連続的に監視できるという
ことにある。しかしながら、本願発明者は、体の運動が光センサの出力信号にス
プリアス・ノイズを発生させ、監視しようとする信号を覆い隠していることを見
い出した。そこで本願発明者は、この問題を解消する装置を案出した。
発明の開示
本発明によれば、発光器と、前記発光器からの光を、体の組織を通過又は反射さ
れた後に受光し、かつ血液又は体の組織を流れる他の液体の脈動によって変化す
る成分を有する電気信号を供給する光センサと、体の運動又は振動に反応し、か
つ血液又は体の組織を流れる他の液体の脈動に対して無関係又は比較的無関係で
あるが、体の運動又は振動によって変化する電気信号を供給する運動トランスデ
ユーサと、一方の電気信号を他方の電気信号と比較するための手段とを有する脈
拍感応装置が提供される。
光センサによって提供される電気信号には、血流の脈動によって変化する成分に
加えて、体の運動又は振動によるノイズ成分が含まれる。従って、或電気信号を
他の電気信号と比較することによって、体の運動によるノイズ成分を相殺するこ
とができ、かつ体の運動とは無関係に血液の脈動によって変化する出力信号が生
成される。
運動トランスデユーサ(変換機)は、体の組織を通過又は反射される光に反応す
る光センサからなり、この光は、血液又は他の体液の流れにおける脈動に影響さ
れない又は実質的に影響されない波長を有する。−例として、この目的には黄色
光が適していることが分かった。しかしながら、別の例として、運動トランスデ
ユーサを圧力又は振動センサ、もしくは加速度計で構成することができる。2つ
の電気信号を、ノイズ成分を相殺するように一方を他方から引くことによって比
較する。これに代えて、運動トランスデユーサからの信号を分析してノイズに対
応する単数又は複数の周波数範囲を識別し、対応する周波数を光センサの信号か
らフィルタ除去してもよい。各信号の周波数分析は、高速フーリエ変換技術によ
って実行することができる。
一方の電気信号を他方の電気信号から引くために2つの電気信号間で相互相関を
行うような適応相殺技術(adaptive cancellation te
chnique)を用いることができ、該技術によって、2つの信号の位相及び
振幅の関係が時間と共に変化する場合であっても、ノイズ成分を相殺することが
できる。
本発明による脈拍感応装置は、脈拍計を構成することができる。これは、ジョギ
ング愛好者が使用するのに適している。この場合には、光センサ及び運動トラン
スデユーサが前額部に適用できるようになっていると好都合である。好適には、
手首又は手の裏側に装着されるような読出し装置が設けられる。短波無線システ
ムによって前額部の要素からの出力信号が手首又は手の読出し装置に伝達される
と好都合であるが、それに代えて、読出し装置を電気ケーブルによって前額部の
前記要素に接続することもできる。読出し装置は、ポケットの中に入れて持ち運
んだり使用者の衣服に留め付けることができる。
変形例では、読出し装置を頭部に取り付け、視覚的な表示装置を使用者の眼鏡に
結合させることができる。これに代えて、脈拍感応装置全体を手首又は手の裏側
に装着できるように構成することもできる。
また、本発明によれば、使用者の前額部に対して装着されるセンサユニットと、
読出し装置と、前記センサユニットから単数又は複数の出力信号を前記読出し装
置に送信するための短波無線通信システムとからなる脈拍計が提供される。
更に、本発明によれば、測定した脈拍数が所定の閾値を超えている時間を累積的
に測定し続けるようにした脈拍計が提供される。この閾値が、トレーニング領域
、即ち使用者がトレーニングの際にその脈拍数を維持すべき値の範囲の下限値で
あると好都合である。所定の閾値は、使用者が直接脈拍計に入力することができ
、又は使用者が入力した個人的データ、例えば性別、年齢、休息時の脈拍数等か
ら脈拍計によって計算することができる。
更にまた、本発明によれば、所定のデータを入力する際に再較正される、測定脈
拍数を表示するためのアナログ・インジケータを備える脈拍計が提供される。ア
ナログインジケータが、 トレーニング領域に対応する「窓」を備えており、こ
のトレーニング領域を決定するデータを入力する際に再較正できるようになって
いると好都合である。トレーニング領域の限界は、直接入力することができ、又
は使用者が入力する個人のデータ、例えば性別、年齢、休息時の脈拍数等から脈
拍計によって計算することができる。休息時の脈拍数は、使用者が休息状態にあ
るときに脈拍計によって計測することができる。再較正時におけるアナログイン
ジケータの下限が、休息時の脈拍数に対応していると好都合である。
脈拍感応装置は、脈拍酸素計測装置の形態とすることができる。このような場合
には、周知の原理に従って、一般に940nm(ナノメートル)(赤外)及び6
60nm(赤)であるような2つの異なる波長で動作する2個の発光機と2個の
光センサとが提供される。各センサの出力信号におけるビークビーク(最高最低
)振幅変化が測定される。2つの最高最低振幅間の比によって、血液の酸素飽和
レベルが測定される。しかしながら、本発明によれば、体の運動や振動によって
変化するが血液の脈動とは実質的に無関係な信号が得られるように、運動トラン
スデユーサ(上述した様々な型式のもの)が同様に設けられる。この信号は、2
個の光センサからの信号と比較されて、体の運動即ちそれらの「ノイズ」成分を
相殺した後に、それらの最高最低振幅が測定されてこれらの振幅間の比が形成さ
れる。
図面の簡単な説明
以下に添付図面を参照しつつ1つの典型例として本発明の実施例について説明す
る。
第1図は、本発明による脈拍計を装着したジョギング愛好者を示す図である。
第2図は、脈拍計の各構成要素を示すブロック図である。
第3図は、脈拍計の読出し装置を示す平面図である。
発明を実施するための最良の形態
第1図には、本発明による脈拍計を装着したジョギング愛好者が示されている。
図示される脈拍計の実施例は、はち巻き12に取り付けられたセンサユニット1
0からなり、このはち巻きを装着した時にセンサユニットが前額部に適用される
ようになっている。また、前記脈拍計は、図示される実施例において手首の周り
に取り付けるためのストラップを有する読出し装置14を備える。この読出し装
置は、手の裏側に保持されるように手袋状の物品に取り付けることもできる。短
波無線通信システムによって、センサユニット10からの信号が読出し装置14
に送られる。
第2図において、センサユニット10は、2個の発光器20.22と、前記各発
光器からの光を前記前額部の組織内で反射された後に受光するための光センサ2
1゜23とからなる。発光器20は赤外光を発し、かつ光センサ21によって提
供される電気信号は、前額部の血管の中を流れる血液の脈動に従って変化する。
発光器22は、異なる波長の、好適には例えば黄色光のような実質的に短い波長
の光を発し、それによってそのセンサ23からの信号が血液の脈動による変化と
比較的無関係になる。しかしながら、これらの信号は両方とも運・動による前額
部の振動によって、特に使用者がジョギングをしている際に足が連続的に地面を
蹴ることによって変化する。
2個の前記センサからの信号は、手首又は手の読出し装置14に送信するために
短波無線トランスミッタ24に送られる。
読出し装置は、2個のセンサ21,23の出力信号に対応して2個の信号をノイ
ズ相殺回路32に供給する無線受信機30を備える。後者の装置は、信号を他の
信号と比較して、血液の流れの脈動と共に変化するが歩数計測の振動やノイズと
は無関係な信号を出す。結果的に得られる信号の変化の周波数が測定されて、脈
拍数が計測される。ノイズ相殺回路32からの信号は、読出し表示装置36を駆
動するプロセッサ34に送られる。ノイズ相殺回路32は、手首又は手に装着さ
れる装置に代えて、前額部に装着されるセンサユニット10内に設けることがで
き、この場合には、トランスミッタ24によってノイズの無い信号が伝達される
。ノイズ相殺回路32は、各光センサ21.23からの出力信号の周波数分析を
行う。2つの信号における対応する周波数又は周波数範囲のピークがノイズと見
なされ、赤外センサ21からの信号の残りの周波数が脈拍数を表す。各信号の周
波数分析は、高速フーリエ変換(FFT)技術によって実行することができる。
これに代えて、2個の電気信号において相互相関を行なった後に一方を他方から
引くことによって、それら2個の信号のパルス及び振幅関係が時間と共に変化す
る場合でも、ノイズ成分を相殺することができるような適応ノイズ相殺技術を用
いることができる。
第3図は、手首又は手に装着される読出し装置14の表示装置36を示している
。表示装置36は、腕時計として使用できるように、通常は時間を知らせるディ
ジタル表示部40を有する。目盛り部45の下端付近のディジタル表示部41は
、休息時の脈拍数を表示し、かつディジタル表示部42は測定した脈拍数を示す
。2個のディジタル表示部43.44によって、個人がジョギングする際の脈拍
数の下限値と上限値、即ちトレーニング領域を画定する数値が得られる。また、
測定した脈拍数のアナログ表示が目盛り部45に表示され、その中には、トレー
ニング領域に対応する「窓」が含まれる。また、前記装置は、 「男性又は女性
」の性別インジケータ46と、 「年齢」表示部47と有し、これらは双方とも
カバー48を回すことによって隠すことができる。
使用時には、個々の使用者について装置を予めセットしなければならない。 [
男性又は女性」の選択は、4個のボタン49の中の1個を押すことによってなさ
れる。
表示部47は、使用者の年齢が現れるまで前記ボタンの別の1個を作動させるこ
とによって、年齢が順に表示され、その後は年齢表示が一定に保持される。次に
、使用者はセンサユニット15を取り付け、測定される脈拍数の読出し値が安定
するのを待つ。次に別のボタン49を押すと、その瞬間における脈拍数(休息時
の脈拍数)がその後連続的に表示部41に表示される。これに代えて、測定した
脈拍数が或最小値(例えば、1分間の心拍数を40回)より大きい場合には、記
憶されている脈拍数よりも低い脈拍数を実際に検出する毎に、自動的に休息時の
脈拍数を記録しかつ更新させることができる。
年齢、休息時の脈拍数、及び女性又は男性の表示から、前記装置のプロセッサは
、トレーニング領域、即ち使用者がトレーニングの際にその脈拍数を維持すべき
上限及び下限を計算する。これらの限界値は、表示部43.44にディジタル表
示され、かつ前記アナログインジケータがこれに対応して較正される。
従って、使用者がジョギングしている際には、測定した脈拍数がディジタル形式
で表示部42に表示され、かつアナログ形式で表示部45に表示される。使用者
の目的とするところは、測定される脈拍数をトレーニング領域の限界値の範囲内
、即ち表示部43.44によって与えられる値の範囲内に維持することである。
これは、アナログ表示を目盛り45の前記「窓」の範囲内に維持することに対応
する。
前記装置は、測定した脈拍数がトレーニング領域の下限を超えている時間を累積
的に測定し、この機能はリセットされるまで継続される。累積測定値は、ボタン
49を適当に操作することによって時刻に代えて表示部40に表示され、また他
のボタン49を操作することによって、ストップウォッチ機能を表示部40に表
示させることができる。センサユニットIOと読出し装置14との閏を無線通信
で連絡する代わりに、読出し装置を電気ケーブルによってセンサユニットと接続
することができる。
この場合、読出し装置は、ポケット内に入れて持ち運ばれまたは使用者の衣服に
留め付けられる。これに代えて、センサユニットと読出し装置とを一体的に取り
付けまたは結合し、手首または手の裏側に装着されるように構成することができ
る。センサユニットを前額部に装着する場合の変形例としては、読出し装置を同
様に頭部に装着し、かつ装着者が眼鏡を介して見ることができるような表示装置
を設けることができる。
要約書
発光器20と、発光器からの光を、体の組織を通過し又は反射された後に受光し
て、血液流の脈動によって変化する電気信号を供給する光センサ21とからなる
、例えば脈拍計又は脈拍酸素計測装置のような脈拍感応装置である。運動トラン
スデユーサによって、血液流の脈動とは無関係であって体の運動又は振動を表す
電気信号が得られる。このトランスデユーサは、発光器22と、要素20.21
とは異なる波長に反応するセンサ23とで構成することができる。この装置は、
2つの電気信号を比較して、センサ21の信号から運動又は振動のノイズを相殺
する。

Claims (17)
- 1.発光器と、前記発光器からの光を、体の組織を通過又は反射された後に受光 し、かつ血液又は体の組織を流れる他の液体の脈動によって変化する成分を有す る電気信号を供給する光センサと、体の運動又は振動に反応し、かつ血液又は体 の組織を流れる他の液体の脈動に対して無関係又は比較的無関係であるが、体の 運動又は振動によって変化する電気信号を供給する運動トランスデユーサと、一 方の電気信号を他方の電気信号と比較するための手段とを有することを特徴とす る脈拍感応装置。
- 2.前記運動トランスデユーサが、体の組織を通過し又は反射され、かつその吸 収率又は反射率が血液又は他の液体の流れにおける脈動に全く又は実質的に影響 されないような波長を有する光に反応する光センサからなることを特徴とする請 求項1に記載の脈拍感応装置。
- 3.前記運動トランスデユーサが、圧力又は振動センサ、若しくは加速度計から なることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の脈拍感応装置。
- 4.前記2つの電気信号の周波数分析を行い、かつ前記2つの分析を比較して血 液又は他の液体流の脈動によって変化する成分を識別するための手段を備えるこ とを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載の脈拍感応装置。
- 5.前記2つの電気信号を比較する際に適応ノイズ相殺を行うための手段を備え ることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれかに記載の脈拍感応装置。
- 6.前記光センサ及び運動トランスデユーサを使用者の前額部に使用するための 手段を備えることを特徴とする請求項1乃至5のいずれかに記載の脈拍感応装置 。
- 7.前記前額部に装着される要素とは分離された読出し装置と、前記前額部の要 素から出力信号を前記読出し装置に通信するための短波無線システムとを更に備 えることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれかに記載の脈拍感応装置。
- 8.脈拍計の形態をなすことを特徴とする請求項1乃至7のいずれかに記載の脈 拍感応装置。
- 9.測定した脈拍数が所定の閾値を超えている時間を累積的に測定し続けるよう になっていることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の脈拍計。
- 10.所定のデータを入力する際に再較正される、測定脈拍数を表示するための アナログ・インジケータを備えることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の脈拍計。
- 11.脈拍酸素計測装置の形態をなすことを特徴とする請求項1乃至7のいずれ かに記載の脈拍感応装置。
- 12.使用者の前額部に対して装着されるセンサユニットと、読出し装置と、前 記センサユニットから単数又は複数の出力信号を前記読出し装置に送信するため の短波無線通信システムとからなることを特徴とする脈拍計。
- 13.測定した脈拍数が所定の閾値を超えている時間を累積的に測定し続けるこ とを特徴とする脈拍計。
- 14.前記所定の閾値がトレーニング領域の下限であることを特徴とする請求項 13に記載の脈拍計。
- 15.前記所定の閾値を、使用者によって入力される個人データから前記脈拍計 が計算することを特徴とする請求項13又は14に記載の脈拍計。
- 16.所定のデータを入力する際に再較正される、測定脈拍数を表示するための アナログ・インジケータを備えることを特徴とする脈拍計。
- 17.前記アナログ・インジケータが、トレーニング領域に対応する窓を有し、 かつ使用者が入力する個人データに基づいて再較正されることを特徴とする請求 項16に記載の脈拍計。
