Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an antimicrobial textured yarn capable of giving an excel lent antimicrobial property to a specific site of a sport wear, etc., by coating with a chitosan at least the surface of the textured yarn before knitted or woven. CONSTITUTION:At least the surface of a textured yarn before knitted or woven is coated with a chitosan to provide an antimicrobial textured yarn. The chitosan is prepared by deacetylating chitin and has a deacetylation degree of >=50%, preferably >=80%. The antimicrobial textured yarn is preferably employed only in the prescribed site of a garment comprising plural sites.

Because sportswear, innerwear, arakuwear, socks, etc. come into direct contact with the body, they are often contaminated with sweat, sebum, etc., and also generate odors. Most of these odors are generated by mold, bacteria, etc., and therefore, in order to suppress the generation of these odors, it has become necessary to impart so-called antibacterial properties to clothing.

There are two main types of antibacterial agents used to impart antibacterial properties: one is chemically synthesized drugs such as quaternary ammonium salts, metal compounds, and halogen compounds, and the other is natural drugs such as chitosan-based polymers. It is a refined product.

In addition, when using a chemically synthesized drug as an antibacterial agent, for example, it is possible to knead the antibacterial agent into a molten polymer of synthetic fibers such as polyamide fibers and melt-spun them to obtain fibers that have antibacterial properties in the fiber itself. Are known. It is also known to blend the obtained fibers with antibacterial properties with other fibers.

As mentioned above, there are various antibacterial agents, but chitosan-based polymers (chitosan obtained by deacetylating chitin, hereinafter referred to as chitosans) are natural products and are preferred for their safety. It also has good antibacterial properties and is considered the most preferred antibacterial agent for use in clothing. However, chitosan cannot be kneaded into a polymer like the above-mentioned polyamide fiber for reasons such as heat resistance and yellowing.

Therefore, conventionally, when using chitosan as an antibacterial agent for clothing, a method has been adopted in which chitosan is used as a treatment liquid in the form of a solution or dispersion and the entire fabric, such as a knitted fabric, is treated with the chitosan.

On the other hand, for clothing that requires antibacterial properties, antibacterial properties are not required for the entire garment, but for the toes of socks, the back side that comes into contact with the skin, and the back side of underwear. Other areas do not secrete much sweat or sebum, and do not generate much odor, so it is meaningless and uneconomical to provide antibacterial properties to these areas. However, when chitosan is used, as mentioned above, the chitosan is applied to the entire fabric such as knitted fabric, so there was waste in the conventional production of antibacterial clothing using chitosan. .

When applying chitosan to threads, first, a treatment solution is prepared in which chitosan is dissolved in an acid or a special solvent, or an emulsion liquid is prepared in which chitosan is finely dispersed. Various additives may be added to this treatment liquid to improve product performance such as fixation, texture, water absorption, and antistatic properties. For example, chitosan is dissolved in water in an acidic atmosphere and mixed with resin such as acrylic resin or epoxy resin to improve adhesion, or chitosan is pulverized using a sand grinder or the like. A processing agent can be prepared by removing large particles from the resulting powder, emulsifying it using a surfactant, and then using the above-mentioned resin in combination. However, the method for producing the treatment liquid of the present invention is not limited to the above method.

The amount of chitosan added to the yarn varies depending on the type of clothing intended, but is approximately 0.01% to 1.0% by weight.
If it is less than 0.01%, the antibacterial effect will be insufficient, and if it is more than 1.0%, there will be disadvantages such as poor hand feel, and it is economically undesirable.

In the case of antibacterial textiles, antibacterial processed threads may be used only in the parts of clothing made from the textiles that are desired to have antibacterial properties. For example, use antibacterial treated yarn for only the appropriate number of the total warp yarns or the appropriate number of the total weft yarns, and use ordinary yarn (various yarns that are not antibacterial treated) for the other yarns. By weaving using this method, a fabric partially imparted with antibacterial properties can be obtained. Furthermore, antibacterial textured yarn may be used only in either the warp or the weft.

Antibacterial processed yarn may be used for all of the yarns constituting the antibacterial knitted fabric. In this way, when the entire knitted fabric is made of antibacterial processed yarn, it is better to make the knitted fabric using antibacterial processed yarn than to apply antibacterial treatment to the knitted fabric, which results in a smaller lot size of the final product. This is preferable because it can be quickly commercialized.

Since the antibacterial processed yarn of the present invention uses chitosan, which is a natural product, it has excellent antibacterial properties, safety, and biocompatibility. Furthermore, since it can be obtained by applying antibacterial treatment to yarn available on the market, it has the advantage of being able to be produced in extremely small lots. Moreover, since antibacterial properties can be imparted only to the parts necessary for the textiles or clothing, it is extremely advantageous economically.
