Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a safe and useful lip cosmetic effective for preventing the crisis of cheilitis accompanying the drying, roughening and desquamation of lip. CONSTITUTION:A stick or cast-type lip cosmetic is prepared by adjusting the hydroxyl value of an oily base to >=80. The cosmetic may be used as a lip- protection cream by compounding a humectant component and an antiinflammatory agent or as a make-up rouge by compounding a colorant. The lip cosmetic is especially useful for the improvement of cheilitis exfoliativa.

Effects of the Invention Regarding Example 1 of the above Examples, a patch test and usage test were conducted on 17 patients who complained of dry lips due to the use of commercially available lipsticks.
