Description

The present invention relates to a dentifrice composition that has moderately suppressed foaming, is low-foaming, and has a pleasant feel when used.

Dentifrice compositions generally contain abrasives, surfactants, humectants, binders, etc., and by incorporating an anionic surfactant as the surfactant, they exhibit a cleansing effect, such as removing stains from the oral cavity, as well as a bactericidal effect, and can impart a refreshing feeling to the oral cavity after brushing.
However, users of dentifrice compositions, such as elderly people who require nursing care, tend to rinse insufficiently after brushing their teeth due to a decline in oral function. Furthermore, when rinsing is difficult, they often simply wipe the inside of their mouths with wet tissues or the like, which can result in insufficient removal of foam from the mouth, leaving behind irritation or an unpleasant taste.
However, anionic surfactants have high foaming properties even when used in small amounts, and therefore, in order to suppress foaming in dentifrice compositions containing anionic surfactants, it is necessary to add a relatively large amount of an ingredient with anti-foaming properties. Commonly used flavoring ingredients also have anti-foaming properties, but adding these ingredients can affect the feel of use of the dentifrice composition and limit the composition design. As a result, it has not been possible to suppress foaming to achieve low foaming properties while ensuring a good feel of use and imparting a refreshing feel to the oral cavity.

The present invention has been made in consideration of the above circumstances, and aims to provide a dentifrice composition containing an anionic surfactant that has moderately suppressed foaming, is low-foaming, and has a good feel when used.

As a result of extensive research conducted by the inventors to achieve the above-mentioned objective, they discovered that when a dentifrice composition containing a specific anionic surfactant is blended with a specific amount of a fatty acid triglyceride or a specific vegetable or animal oil in a specific ratio relative to the anionic surfactant, and a nonionic surfactant is also blended in combination, foaming is moderately suppressed, resulting in low foaming, even though the anionic surfactant is included.Furthermore, even if almost no foaming is felt, a refreshing feeling in the mouth after brushing (hereinafter sometimes abbreviated as "refreshing feeling") can be imparted, and the appearance stability can also be ensured. That is, according to the present invention, it has been discovered that a dentifrice composition containing (A) one or more anionic surfactants selected from acyltaurines, acylamino acids, alkyl sulfates, and salts thereof, (B) one or more selected from fatty acid triglycerides, vegetable oils, and animal oils that are liquid at 25°C, and (C) a nonionic surfactant, wherein the content of component (B) is 0.05 to 1.5% by mass and the mass ratio of (B)/(A) is 1 to 10, exhibits moderately suppressed foaming, is low-foaming, has a good feel when used, and has stable appearance, leading to the present invention.

In the present invention, when component (A) is used in combination with component (B) in a specific amount with a (B)/(A) mass ratio within a specific range, and when component (C) is also added, component (A) and component (B) interact stably and specifically, thereby imparting the above-mentioned exceptional action and effect.
In this case, in the present invention, the combination of components (A), (B), and (C) maintains the cleaning effect and other functional effects of component (A), while suppressing foaming properties and foam persistence, resulting in less foaming, and component (B) is stably incorporated over time.As a result, even with a low foaming property that produces little foam, a refreshing feeling is imparted to the oral cavity after use, and the appearance stability can be ensured.
As shown in the comparative examples described below, Comparative Examples 1, 3, and 4, in which the dentifrice compositions contained component (A) but not component (B), exhibited poor foaming properties even though they contained liquid paraffin or shea butter along with component (C), and Comparative Examples 5 and 6, in which components (A) and (B) were contained but not component (C), exhibited poor appearance stability even though they contained the amphoteric surfactant coconut oil fatty acid amidopropyl betaine. Comparative Examples 7 and 8, in which components (A), (B), and (C) were contained but the mass ratio of (B)/(A) was inappropriate, exhibited poor foaming properties or a refreshing feeling, and Comparative Example 9, in which the amount of component (B) was too high, exhibited poor refreshing properties and poor appearance stability. In contrast, as shown in the examples, a dentifrice composition of the present invention containing the components (A), (B), and (C) and in which the amount of component (B) and the mass ratio of (B)/(A) are within a specific range exhibited excellent foaming resistance, a refreshing feeling, and good appearance stability.
Dentifrice compositions containing an anionic surfactant, a sucrose fatty acid ester, or a liquid oil are disclosed in Patent Documents 1 to 3, but these do not suppress foaming. From Patent Documents 1 to 3, it is difficult to imagine that the present invention can achieve low foaming and ensure stable feel and appearance by combining component (A) with a combination of components (B) and (C).
